I know she was very strong for a long time, and Team 4 wanted to change that, but I do not think they wanted her to be as bad as she is right now.
Anecdotally, I feel like I put my team at a massive disadvantage when I play her, and statisically, her pick and winrate have drastically decrease over the past couple of weeks.
Personally, I don’t mind other metas/comps becoming viable, but please continue to watch D.Va so she doesn’t become a throw-pick like she is right now. Dive was a hard meta to run, so you still saw things like Rein and Orisa/Junkrat players, but I’m afaird that new meta will suffocate everything else because of how little coordination it takes to run effectivly.
I’ve managed ok with D.Va but I dropped in SR after playing on a laptop (muh frames qq) so my elo isn’t something to base anything from considering anything works lol.
But in general she pretty much just makes tanking unfun. I feel the best way to deal with her when it comes to that is Zarya and Orisa (and Orisa is still meh because Shield bash is on a shorter cooldown than Fortify). Even Mei as an off-tank can be better.
Is this a joke?
She had a slight reduction to her missiles is all. It’s not her being bad, it’s the meta she’s in now. If she’s ineffective just don’t pick her. Her pellets are bad against armor.
She doesn’t need anything, the last meta proved that.
It honestly feels like she would be in a much better place if she had the damage back. I don’t think it was a good idea to change the meta AND THEN nerf D.Va.
Currently she can’t burst combo squishies reliable and tends to feed against Rein Zarya, whereas if she had her damage (with booster damage), she could threaten Hanzo/other squishes.
She caught the nerf first and then the new meta came.
I think she is fine. She would still be the same because the armor is still around.
It’s just the scenario of people being so use to playing her everywhere and now she’s naturally countered.
Hanzo’s getting nerfed shortly, but I suspect he’ll need a little more toning down even after the upcoming nerf. D.Va should be in a better place soon, even though she’s actually not in a truly bad place at the moment, it’s just heroes like Hanzo who are overtuned.
I would dislike to see the day they put back the missile damage.
D.Va is fine, she is just not meta favored, if you want to be meta slave so be it but she is fine. This is Reinhardt all over again. I 'member when people asked for crazy buffs for him but now he is the most picked tank. Rein needs fixes and D.Va needs nothing.
I agree. I am a D.Va main with 300ish hours on her. My SR decreased a large amount this season and I’ve lost nearly every game that I chose to play D.Va in competitive…no matter how intensely hard I tried.
The Brigette/Hanzo comps basically render D.Va ineffective at nearly everything she was designed to do.
D.Va got a stealth nerf to her booster damage, a large nerf to her missiles, and DM was nerfed into the ground. Her hitbox is still enormous, and HER ROCKETS DAMAGE HERSELF AT OPTIMAL RANGE. (I wrote this in caps because i’m still baffled that Blizzard hasn’t fixed this…it’s important to note that D.Va needs to be as close as possible to get her damage in…yet she takes damage for doing so)
The meta is currently where D.Va struggles entirely. She really has been nerfed a bit too much for her to be a valid pick in this season. She counters 1 hero (Pharah) yet over a handful of heroes counter her. Hanzo is past the point of being a dive target anymore, because his storm arrow ability is too strong.
Overall, I think all the tanks could use a good tuning up a bit right now. D.Va is one that they will have to be careful with…but dive should be viable still and this meta should not completely counter it as much as allow both playstyles to work with each other.
I would definitely love a hitbox adjustment and a change to her shields so that she is 300/300. I’ve been on the forums since her nerf suggesting to give her a bit more shields just as a quality of life change…it would take some pressure off healers to babysit her and she would still be easy to focus down. Also, taking damage from my own rockets is getting very frustrating and being punished for engaging enemies this way is a large oversight on Blizzards balancing changes.
Dva is difficult to play since alone without her dive partners she’s not all that strong and would get shredded if she were to dive alone since they’ve stripped away all that tankability. Booster nerf was also overkill, it’s a lot harder to deal with mobile characters running in circles around and above you, notably Genji.
A lot of the people advocated for Dva being the driving force behind all that is dive meta, but she honestly needed that synenergy to work and the winston changes were what made dive meta mainstream. Winston can be ran without a dva, dva cannot be ran without a winston anymore because she’s not a strong tank individually. Without that synenergy and with these nerfs she might as well be a zarya and hanzo ulti charge training dummy.
Dva is fine. Heck I have solo tanked as dva in this meta and won. Mind you that is in a six stack most games against another 6 stack or at least a 5 stack. She does well. Just kinda change how you play. Diving in alone is a death sentence. Work and stay with your team. You have a Brig well you will be quite hard to kill. Yes she has a huge crit box but there is less stuff to fight that can crit you. Rein and Brig can’t I don’t believe Zarya does either. So that leaves Hanzo and Zen/Lucio.
