There are a few game modes I like to play where even if you are running around and shooting, the game will kick you if you are not inflicting damage. I can see why that rule was made for quick play and such, but in custom games with the “headshots only” rule active, sometimes I can’t damage an enemy in time before the game kicks me. I know that means I basically suck (widow headshot games), but I am playing that mode to improve my aim as to become better.
Another mode I play that is a lot of fun is a doomfist mode. Everyone uppercuts into the sky and then we try to get eliminations via rocket fist. It is really hard to hit other doomfists with everyone rocket fisting around like crazy, but when you do it is really rewarding. Just like in widow headshots, even though we are using our abilities, if we don’t do damage within a certain amount of time we are kicked.
I’m hoping for custom games it would be possible to add a setting in the future for a more relaxed inactivity kick, where if you are using your gun or your abilities, you aren’t considered inactive.
Thanks!

I honestly believe it should just be removed entirely as there is always a game owner who can inactivity kick people

I believe the reason for this is because people farmed levels and loot boxes while playing in custom games. So they removed it.
I can see why that may be needed, but I think using your abilities or gun in a shooting game should be considered as a player being active.

I agree. But I don’t know if they can change it.
I like to get into levels by myself just to look at all the bits of lore. Sometimes for 20 or 30 minutes at a time. When Blizzard World came out I had a custom game with a friend to look at all the winks and nods, but we got booted because “the game lasted too long”.

Remove AFK in Custom Matches entirely (or at least in Skirmishes). What’s the point of making “Chill no kill” or “Widow headshot only” games if you eventually get kicked because you weren’t being a a-hole killing everybody/your aim sucks and you couldn’t get a headshot.
The only way to counter the “AFK” system is by killing yourself, and that gets tiresome after a bit.

Thanks for the support everyone. Glad to see I’m not alone in my frustration

Somewhat different, but you can also get kicked in the practise range which makes zero sense to me.

I didnt know that was possible either!
There are also the “hide and seek” or “red light green light” games that require you to remain completely inactive for long stretches of time. Doesn’t make sense to have a kick system for someone using the sit emote to hid in a bush as they wait out the clock. It punishes good play in those sorts of gamemodes.

Yea it kinda ruins those modes
It was late and I was kinda sleepy, but I got kicked out of “Widow HS only” twice yesterday.

I have recently as well and I was the host of the game XD
To fix the headshot inactivity kick, the game could at least register when you hit their body as activity (even though it doesn’t cause damage). But I do think a more broad fix is needed for the other modes we’ve discussed in this thread.
We really need to see some options on this like the options change timeout, or inactivity type, as playing custom games like a head shot battle with hanzos can mean sometimes kills far between even if you are way in the lead. and getting kicked or others kicked can and does totally ruin the fun. especially when you have the fat red banner across your screen and you can’t see the shot either.

Please blizz, this would make a lot of custom games more enjoyable.

I can’t post links yet, but I’ve made a larger post explaining how they can expand on custom games and make them better! If you would like to add suggestions, I would very much appreciate it that way we can get the ball rolling on change!
