Hi, it’s me! Everyone’s favorite gender-ambiguous individual, CurvedMedusa! It’s been quite a bit since I’ve done this, but I’m doing it anyway! This one has been sitting in Docs, unfinished, for months and today was the day to do it!
Here, we have a talent tree for everyone’s favorite character: Mauga, that is sure to make him even more of a threat on the battlefield! With a whopping total of 75 painfully wishful talents, separated into three mini-trees, each with a distinct theme and playstyle mapped to them. Two of the trees focus on playstyles that are familiar to players, while one takes the character in a BRAND NEW DIRECTION! (awawawawawa) Without further ado, check 'em out for me!
- Heavy Assault - Mauga’s ability to dish out a large amount of damage over a long period of time while tanking damage from the frontline continues to increase as he’s given more creative ways of doing so.
- Row 1
- Adrenaline Armor - Increases defense during Overrun
- Iron Hearts - Increases defense during Cardiac Overdrive
- Heavy Weaponry - Decreases knockback while Mauga is firing.
- Weight Tolerance - Increases movement speed while firing.
- Row 2
- Talon Operative - Decreases damage taken from the front while increasing damage taken from behind. (Mauga now has a critical hitpoint on his back.)
- Full Throttle - Mauga swats enemies away upon engaging Overrun
- Contagious Laughter - Greatly increases movement speed of allies if Overrun and Cardiac Overdrive are both active
- Meteor Dash - Overrun damage and stun time increases based on the time it takes for Mauga to land.
- Row 3
- Heavy Impact - Increases the radius of Overrun’s outer crater.
- Focused Fire - Decreases the maximum spread when both guns are fired.
- Chaingun Shield - Mauga can use his Gatling Gun as a makeshift shield to block incoming fire.
- Forceback - Mauga can hold his melee to release a burst of energy that knocks back enemies based on how much damage Mauga has recently taken.
- Row 4
- Wally & Shatterbox - Swap your weapons to a pair of gatling guns that can deploy a massive segmented shield. Each small hexagonal section of the shield is also ammunition for a slightly stronger weapon that doesn’t ignite. As Mauga unloads his magazine, the shield shrinks, but the health of the shield does not. Mauga must call in the pair of guns and take off his own pair to use this. All of his options are on very long cooldowns but can be swapped immediately if they are next to him.
- Freezer & Burn - One gun fires heavy flares that leave behind flames, the other reacts with fire to create coral-like crystals that can trap enemies and be used as cover.
- Foom & Boom - One gun is a flamethrower while the other can ignite the other, causing a massive explosion that you can’t help but get caught up in.
- Moby & Ahab - One gun fires a multitude of harpoons but must they be recovered to use again. The other gun sucks in both nearby enemies and further flung harpoons.
- Row 5
- One For Two - Mauga can discard a gun and increase the fire rate of another as compensation. His melee also stuns.
- Chaingun Master - Each weapon has independent aim while Mauga is standing still. Mauga will gain Berserker overhealth if both guns are simultaneously hitting two different targets.
- Gatling Run - Mauga can continue firing on either side while using Overrun is active. Alternatively, Mauga automatically reloads during Overrun if he isn’t firing.
- Firewall Breached - Mauga can pierce through ignited barriers and ignores armor while enemies are ignited.
- Row 6
- Man of the Hour - If Mauga has fired long enough, rockets are added to the ammunition
- Loose Chains - Mauga can Overrun while in Cage Fight but adds a device in the ultimate’s center that can end it prematurely.
- Chaingun Combos - Mauga can swap any gun he has as long as it’s for the correct arm. Maxing this out lets him use any combination regardless.
- Crossbred Chainguns - Both weapons share each other’s qualities, but weapon spread is drastically increased when both are used. Also decreases weapon redeploy time.

- Fire Fight - Enemies in Cage Fight ignite while inside and Mauga gains infinite ammo.

- Deepsea Raider - Despite looking like, and very much being a meathead, Mauga’s an experienced fighter who knows how to play smart and think fast. This tree encourages teamplay, redirecting enemy focus towards Mauga and picking off easy targets.
- Row 1
- Fire Starter - Decreases the minimum amount of bullets needed to ignite an enemy.
- “Safety” - Mauga can rev up his weapons indefinitely so they can be immediately fired when an enemy appears. This has no speed reduction.
- Reactive Ammunition - Melees can activate weapon reactions as long as the weapon is equipped.
- Charismatic Laughter - Cardiac Overdrive redirects enemy fire towards Mauga. Leveling this up increases his range of attention. Distracted enemies won’t try to avoid traps.
- Row 2
- Guns Hurt - Decreases weapon falloff when shot in the head.
- Tactical Precision - Increases damage when one gun is fired at a time
- Cardiac Influence - Enemies within Cardiac Overdrive’s radius can be shot by anyone from anywhere for Overdrive’s effect.
- Weapon reactions do bonus damage upon activation.
- Row 3
- Tiki Trap - Mauga can deploy a totem pole that chains enemies if they get too close. Enemies who are chained are considered defeated unless the trap is destroyed and objectives can be completed even if they’re required to be defeated. Leveling this up makes the tiki taller and allows it to chain more enemies.
- Free Spirits - Cardiac Overdrive is more effective based on how many allies are in its radius.
- Insult to Injury - Overrun chains any enemy that is in its epicenter.
- Oil Spill - Mauga leaves behind a trail and cloud of blinding ink every few Overruns. Enemies within it are both Blinded and Doused and will immediately ignite when shot at by anyone.
- Row 4
- Highly Flammable - Headshots ignite enemies faster.
- Mighty Whaler - Mauga can fire a harpoon that chains an enemy to where it was thrown. Mauga can now pull chains and make them tighter, though he is vulnerable during this.
- Fire Bomb - Mauga gains an explosive that ignites enemies on detonation. This can remain deployed indefinitely. Can be deployed on an enemy.
- Moray Drone - Mauga deploys a drone that chains an enemy and drags them towards it if they get caught in its line of fire. The trap can even float in midair.
- Row 5
- Heavy Feet - Increases the radius of Overrun’s epicenter
- Join The Party - Mauga can exit Cage Fight, though he is still chained to it. Mauga cannot fire while he is outside of the Cage Fight but he can pull outside enemies in. Allies deal extra damage if they are in Cage Fight.
- Working Smarter AND Harder- Mauga can ignore closed off sections of a mission and engage objectives early. He must wait for his team to catch up with him to move forward. Leveling this up allows him to move deeper into a level and do more objectives early.
- Ball and Chain - Chained enemies run slower.
- Row 6
- Lovable Guy - Any chained enemy will charge straight at Mauga if he gestures towards them. They will still be chained and gag themselves if they reach the maximum length.
- Blindingly Handsome - While idle, Mauga can brightly smile, the glare in his teeth blinding a single enemy.
- Abyssal Oak - Mauga can deploy a hard light base that activates a giant coral tree when applied enough damage. The tree launches enemies in the air and can be broken branch by branch to cause impressive damage.
- Mighty Angler - Mauga can summon a semi-submersible that catches enemies. The inside of the submersible is pitch-black and blinds enemies. Allies can also hide in the submersible for an ambush. The Mighty Angler can be chained, pulled and reused.

- Caged Animals - When Cage Fight activates, any deployable Mauga has set up will also activate a mini Cage Fight around it. The main Cage Fight increases its radius but shrinks over time. Mauga and enemies can traverse cages if they overlap.

- Volcano - Mauga is an incredibly reckless individual. He thrives on danger, but his life is always in constant threat from even his own body. As he controls his adrenaline, he becomes an incredibly powerful and volatile one-man-army.

- Smokin’ Hot Bod - Overrun slightly burns enemies.
- Check-Up - Increases any form of healing based on how low Mauga is.
- Jumping In - Mauga can hold down Overrun to delay his leap. He can change the angle of the leap while prepared.
- Unstable Hearts - Mauga’s condition is very uneasy. If his heart rate gets too low, he’ll get weak and slow and if his heart rate is too high, he’ll start taking minimal damage overtime and eventually crash if it reaches a breaking point. You can monitor his heart rate on the UI. Heart rate increases as he does damage, or if he’s separated from his team. Heart rate can decrease if Mauga calms down while idle or automatically if he is near his team. This talent is required to be unlocked in order to make use of every other talent further in this tree.
- Row 2
- Carpe Diem - Mauga can toss away his guns and go full-on brawler, with a variety of melee attacks, including rapid-fire punches, uppercuts, dope-slaps, kicks, and even suplexes, increasing his speed and damage as his heart rate increases. Leveling this uup gives Mauga more melee techniques.
- Creatine - Increases launch speed and damage of Overrun as heart rate increases.
- One-Man Army - Mauga’s damage is more effective the further Mauga is from any teammate
- Absolute Unit - Enemies will panic and run if both Overrun and Cardiac Overdrive are active.
- Row 3
- Spiked Cleats - The epicenter of Overrun leaves behind a pool of lava.
- Power Transfer - Mauga can drastically decrease his max health in order to drastically increase his movement and attack speed.
- Steady Heart - Cardiac Overdrive immediately heals based on how much health has been lost and brings down Mauga’s heart rate.
- Berserkest - Increases the effectiveness of Berserker based on heart rate.
- Row 4
- Eruption - New Ultimate While In Carpe Diem - Can release a powerful burst of energy based on how much health he’s missing. Leveling this up increases the multiplier.
- Emergency Stabilizers - Mauga has access to canisters that can regulate his heart for a prolonged period of time. This gives him the maximum heart rate bonus without risking cardiac arrest, but makes it easier for his heart rate to become dangerous in the future. Mauga only gets a limited amount of canisters.
- Bulldozer - Overrun tramples any enemy Mauga plows through.
- Fired Up Like A Volcano - There is a small chance Mauga will shoot out a glob of lava. This increases as his heart rate increases.
- Row 5
- Man-o Boost - If Mauga’s heart rate is high enough, he will end up nano boosting himself through sheer adrenaline. This is on a very long cooldown that speeds up based on heart rate.
- Peace and Quiet - Passive ult charge increases for all allies if Mauga is farther away from his team.
- Immovable Force - While in Carpe Diem, Mauga is unstoppable while in Cardiac Overdrive. Increases effectiveness.
- Unstoppable Object - While in Carpe Diem, Mauga goes into Cardiac Overdrive while in Overrun.
- Row 6
- Hey, Buddy! - Mauga can grab up to two enemies and use them as weapons. Leveling this up increases the ways he can use them, including spinning around with them, using one or two as projectiles or simply just smashing their heads in. Mauga can also throw his chainguns and deployables.
- Platinum Punching - Decreases the downtime between punches while in Carpe Diem as heart rate increases.
- Mauga II & Mauga IV - If Mauga’s heart rate is maxed out, he can summon a pair of lava sharks that leave behind a trail of lava as they seek enemies in the back line.
- Wally’s Cooler Twin Brother - Mauga can deploy a shield while in Carpe Diem. The shield can absorb and respond to Eruption.
- Row 7
- I’m Not Trapped In Here With You… - Cage Fight lasts indefinitely, but no one, enemy or ally can enter or exit it until either side stands victorious. The barrier is opaque. Ultimate can be canceled and be refunded if no one is caught. Increases damage for anyone, enemy or ally, while in Cage Fight.
