I don’t know what causes it specifically, I’ve noticed it happening after tabbing out and after changing between heroes who I have different crosshair settings for.
However today it happened as soon as I booted into a game, and it seems to be happening with more and more frequency. It gets really frustrating having to restart my game between every match, and I can hardly get through a match without this bug appearing now.
This has only started happening since all of the PTR updates/the lunar new year event, before then I never had this issue on either borderless windowed or fullscreen.

Faced the same issue. Turned out it was a bug with the Discord Overlay. Turning it off fixed it for me.

Had this happen yesterday again.
I still think it’s caused by the last windows update, I’ve been using discord with the game since it came out and haven’t had this problem until recently.
When it happened yesterday I alt tabbed out of the game, completely exited discord and went back into the game, the mouse cursor was still hovering at my crosshair.
So I went back into discord to talk to the people I was grouped with, and when the game finished I restarted the game. After restarting overwatch the issue went away.
I play with discord in the background all the time and this issue does’t happen every time I play. This s the 4th time in the past week or 2 it has happened, and the only fix for me is restarting the game.

When I play this happens, but it only happens to me in competitive. It happens when I die, I respawn, and the second I do 1 damage and it appears. Blizzard please fix this, it has made me and my friends drop out of platinum many times.

For all of you who reported this problem, try turning off Discord overlays or any other programs with overlays. While the problem might not occur every time, you should still try it as those programs do not always result in this problem.
I recall there was a mention that the Devs have reached out to DiscordApp to try and come up with a solution. Meanwhile, please disable the overlay if you haven’t already. Do post again if you still encounter this problem despite disabling them. Cheers.
I don’t know what other app would have an overlay, but like I mentioned I completely closed discord and it didn’t go away, however the cursor changed from the overwatch cursor to the windows default cursor.
Then I reopened discord to tell friends I was restarting the game, restarted the game and it was fine.
I had the same problem. Turns out it was because I had an old Xbox 360 controller plugged in. Once I unplugged it the problem was solved.

You can also go to the menu and unplug your mouse then replug it if that ever happens again unexpectedly.
I’ve had this issue twice now. The first time I fixed it, I just simply had to exit Overwatch and reopen it, but does anyone know a way to have a discord overlay AND get rid of the mouse pointer inside overwatch instead of having to exit the game? It would really help because I have a sort of slow PC that takes awhile to load up the game. Thanks.
I tried it, i turned discord off and other applications, counting in google and still the same problem…

This has been a problem since 2 months ago. It has been really annoying and messing my gameplay a lil., but today its becoming a lot worse. I actually cant move my screen because my crosshairs are stuck and i haer that sound 5 times every minute im honestly not enjoying the game anymore
and its not only for the game but for my computer as well… overwatch please help

This has been happening to me all the time throughout the past 2 weeks, never before. I don’t use overlays at all, I find the discord one to be intrusive. I have found that it’s probably just related to me going to a different window while I’m searching for a game, whether specifically during a loading screen or what else, I don’t know.

In competitive, when I die, the cursor pops up in the middle and I can’t see or aim unless i restart the game.

UP here ! This is anoying as hell !!! I don’t use any overlay, not even steam. 1 month of this cursor appearing !
It never happened before the May updates ! Can this thread go up so it can be fixed ?
