Cross play Xbox/Ps4/Pc

So i was just watching a video from Overwatch Central and at the end of the video he said Jeff had talked about cross play. So i am a Xbox player myself ( wait for it ) now that everyone has gone i would like to put my thoughts in on this. I am not for cross play because on Xbox VS PC most of the time the games are unfair. If the other team has a Widowmaker that is using a keyboard and my team does not have anyone using a keyboard we we are not at a disadvantage unless we have some god tir DPS player. If we could turn off cross play like we do for skirmish that would be really good, SOT ( sea of thieves ) did this and it has helped the game a little for us that play on Xbox. The advantages of having cross play is having pugs and scrims with PC players as a Xbox player if your trying to go semi pro. I myself do not want to play with PC players every day in QP, BUT if i could turn cross play on for like one of Jaynes pugs and play with people i know are trying. I would know i have to work realllllly hard to get stuff done but i would be fine with that. I just wanted to voice concerns about cross play and what could happen to the player base on Xbox/PS4

Do what Fortnite did - if you are using a controller, you play with other people are who are using a controller. If you are using a kb/m, you play with other people who are using a kb/m.

Personally, I would be fine with just being able to share accounts across platforms. I want switch to PC, but all of my cosmetics are on the Xbox

They arent making it like that. If you are on PC you will only vs PC players. (In comp at least)

Doubtful any form of crossplay makes it, they balance console separate to pc.

Good point there, the only problem with matchmaking for both people is that we would have to have two different matchmakers to say. I think just being able to turn off and turn on cross play would help the match maker.

They balance consoles???

Sony has been pushing back hard against crossplay lately. It sucks.

It wouldn’t be any different than it is now. Mouse and Keyboards are rampant on console. And devs dont care at all.

Off the top of my head i know console torb’s turret does less damage but there could be more differences than just that they’d have to suss out.

That’s the thing.
They say it’s against the rules, but also tell people not to do anything about it if they catch it happening…
I know that Microsoft, at least, has made it possible to use kb/m on Xbox without needing an adaptor, and the individual games just have to allow it. If they did that, then they could match those using kb/m against others who are using kb/m

Personally, I’ve never noticed it to be much of a problem.

If cross-play was added, you’d probably be unable to play with/against them in comp, and would probably have to change a setting somewhere to switch over to playing with M+KB users.

It’s not that likely that it’ll be added though, as another guy stated they even balance them differently. Torb’s turret has at the very least historically done 10 dmg instead of 14 on console.

They’ve stated that using a M+KB setup on console is a bannable offense, not sure where you’re getting that from.

If it is detected you are you are using kb/m, you play with other kb/m.
If it is detected you are playing with a controller, you play with other controllers.

If you are using kb/m, you play with PC balance.

That would be a solution, yes, but I’m referring to the current situation. The consoles can’t tell a controller apart from a M+KB with an adapter emulating a controller.

Without cross-play, however, it’ll never happen. It would split the already tiny console playerbase even more.

To do that they again would have to run a split server, you would have to have one just for us on xbox and one for people that play on xbox but are using kb/m. Ether way we can not do anything about it.

For this to work, Blizzard would have to enable direct KBM usage for console OW first.

Even then, XIM is still seen as a controller, so XIM users would still be paired with controller users.

okay so basically what crossplay/ crossplatform is is that you don’t have to have separate accounts for all consoles. if you have the game on pc, ps4, & xbox, you can use the same account across all three. It has nothing to do with being paired with people who use different consoles; it just makes it easier on your end because if you decided you want to start playing on pc, but you only have it for xbox, you can use the same overwatch/blizzard account on pc and you won’t have to start over.

It doesn’t say it’s against the rules, actually.

Cross play on SOT was you could play with Pc players as a Xbox player. Now you can turn that off but that is beside the point. Crossplatform is where you can share accounts like you said. But Cross play is different.
