I keep hearing that there will be full cross play in ow2, but I highly doubt that these people even know what they’re really saying. I mostly play quickplay, because my friend group is split between pc and console, but I feel we are missing out on the competitive aspect. The lack of aim assist for console players in cross-play quickplay makes me worried that there isn’t going to be competitive cross-play. So, does anyone really know if there will be competitive cross play?
The crossplay for competitive is limited to console players. It is Xbox, Playstation, and presumably Switch. True crossplay does not exist in Overwatch.
Nope. Tbh if they’re not gonna allow Aim Assist in Quick Play PC Pools, then there’s no way Competitive Crossplay will ever be a thing.
I think they just meant cross progression
Other than that I both extremely hope they add aim assist as well as more aim options, heck I don’t even play on console, I just hope for that
Will say I also hope for, if not a main competitive mode, make it an arcade mode or replace open queue with a crossplay competitive, that could be really fun
I dont see this changing. The only real competitive change they need to make is the matchmaking games category. We need a separate ranked competitive for ppl quing solo to reflect peoples actual skill instead of reflecting who got carried.
They should enable aim-assist and merge the PC / Console queues and let the matchmaking system take care of skill gaps. That works for all the other FPS cross-platform games, so it should work for Overwatch as well.
Keep the crossplay out of the competitive queues, thanks.
It’s a big nono, so unfair that every competitive game didn’t make it luckily.
to be fair, pc console cross play is totally valid and doable. console should have aim assist bc (1) ow was designed to be played on pc so its unplayable on console without aim assist (2) the amount OF console aim assist is excessively insignificant. i think pc players concern was, that they HEAR the word “aim assist” and assume that there would be a disadvantage. i would ask any ow pc player concerned about console aim assist that if they truly feel that console aim assist means much of anything, then how come there are endless ineffective console players. its the strength of the aim assist that matters, and on console, the strength of aim assist is pretty much non existent or else there would be many players lasering on console. if aim assist meant anything to be concerned about, then how come there are so many ineffective players on console. bc its not aim assist. its “lack of wrist assist”. which we can also call acceleration stabilization so that reticle doesn’t zig zag all over the screen endlessly. as game doesn’t detect mouse input. besides, if players could choose between wrist aiming and no aim assist, VERSUS thumb stick with acceleration stabilization, well we all know whose choosing what for the most part. thereby rendering pc concerns disingenuous. lastly many players play with it off bc its so insignificant. i would say over half the pc population came from console so many are well aware of how insignificant console aim assist is. beta it to see that everything is already likely equitable.
Deleting game due to inability to play ranked with friend group on cross play. Totally understand people want “true competitive” but at least give an option to opt out of cross play so that the majority of people (like myself a casual gamer) can play with their friends/family. Totally disappointed it’s not even an option… what a shame, as we really enjoyed quick play. Good luck Blizzard, just like Warcraft 3, again very disappointed in your awareness.
