Crazy new 6v6 Queue Idea: RQ + OQ

This idea just came to mind as an option for a single casual QP / Arcade mode for 6v6.

What if… There was a single 6v6 mode where you could choose either to queue for a 2-2-2 role team or an open Q team, and the matchmaker would put those teams againts each other?

  • RoleQ team vs RoleQ team
  • RoleQ team vs OpenQ team
  • OpenQ team vs OpenQ team

This mode would still need the devs to fix their mistakes with 5v5 balancing and make big changes unique to this 6v6 mode, mostly reverting all the bad patches throughout OW2 and maybe even removing all role passives. (global regeneration is not technically a role passive, so that can stay, haha)

But unfortunately the game is on the brink of entering maintenance mode so they’ll never do anything fun or exciting with the game ever again. Shame.

Interesting idea, I have pitched this before but it was argued that it would be unfair because the open teams could run goats but personally I think it’s on the player if they decided to go for 2-2-2 queue and lost… Furthermore goats can be beaten with airborne compositions and furthermore if 222 is this ideal perfect team composition that 222 advocates think it is then they shouldn’t be losing right?

I think the biggest hurdle is separate ques.

But its an interesting idea.

Access to OQ team comps naturally gives that queue the advantage by just having more options.

It would also undo how RQ stops extremes of power and synergy that exist in OQ.

Simple solution:

  • Queue for OQ

If you choose to restrict yourself that’s on you…

You didnt follow the logic/post through

Yes and those extremes of power are available to all players who choose to queue OQ - so again if you choose to restrict yourself that’s on you…

Can you address this point instead of repeating yourself? If you follow through the logic on this, what is the advantage of picking RQ? And if there is none, why pick it?

Good question - I personally don’t know why anyone would choose to restrict themselves…

Excellent, so you agree this idea is bad and that OQ already satisfies your needs

No I think the idea is perfectly fine - it accomplishes what it sets out to do…

What does it set out to do?

It sets out to unify the queues which has several advantages…

Do you need me to explain them to you?

So, lets make mixed queues, to make rq obsolete.

One could unify all queues in the game, including mystery heroes. However, that would violate competitive integrity to an extreme level. One must have standards and see the glaring flaws in their arguments

Essentially, this idea is just another “delete role queue” thread, so i can see why you’d support it given your famous “argument from ignorance” stance on this topic.

One could certainly do this but we don’t currently have competitive mystery heroes as a mode in the current rotation so this is outside of the realm of possibility…

So you don’t understand the advantages - do you need me to explain them to you?

There’s no need, i understand them very well.

You highlight the issue nicely when talking about competitive modes. Let me repeat myself:

And indeed, why should it even exist when it gives an inherent competitive disadvantage?

anything to do that , the garbage should have never been made in the first place

…despite being the most popular, and most played game mode out of all.

Makes sense /s

you mean the game mode that killed ow1 and lost its popularity.

its only popular now cause other modes arent balanced any more and this gimped mode balance is spread everywhere.

so no ya it needs to be taken back to the barn
