Cracking the Morse code******

So I figured out a theory on how comp works across all tiers or at least the mentality of players along all tiers. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but here goes.

So we have;

  • Game sense
    *positioning
*awareness. Also includes knowing the map
    *knowing when to switch
  • Target prioritazation
  • Communication
    *ULT combination
    *Shot calling
    *focus firing
  • Aim and skill
  • Hero picks and counter picks

So,
Bronze through silver:

  • They lack all these things.

Gold:
Might start to improve on aim (But lack skill), shot calling and a little bit of awareness.

Plat:
All of gold plus target prioritization and focus firing.

Diamond:
Things start getting interesting here because now they have all of Plat and they start knowing when to counter pick, a little bit of ULT combination, developing actual skill and decent positioning.

Masters:
They have fully mastered the art of being diamonds but can sometimes have a problem with miscommunication.

Grandmaster:
Excellent show of trait. They know everything. You can’t fault them. Top of the league. Or so I thought.

Then it hit me. Why can’t anyone reach 5000? Is there something missing that even Grandmasters don’t know? Then I recently came across this guy named Fankda. He’s 5000 and he’s on console. I notice that the only thing he has that most other GMs don’t have is BRAVERY.

He’s all up in people’s faces And I don’t mean like carrying as with the case with guys like Danteh, Kabaji etc all those guys. Fankda is literally not scared to die. I know a lot of people and GMs say don’t care about your rank and all that but deep down I know they do care somewhat. That’s why they complain when they games with people below their SR like GMs placed with Masters and sometimes they try hard to carry because they really don’t want to drop.
Fankda doesn’t care at all about SR. At least that’s how it looks to me. It’s been a long while since i saw one of his videos, maybe he’s dropped or stopped playing but he’s the only one I seen that hit 5000 exact.

Writing this out really gave me an insight to my gameplay and now I know I suck. Wow there’s a lot of things I need to work on. But to be honest it’s one thing to know and another to execute. I think most players know these things, from bronze to GM but not all of us can execute. Anyway I hope this helps you get better and realise what you need to be doing to get out and climb.

So you mean player got to 5000 playing on a console region with little people on it… wow great feat.

Every region I check there are top 500s with 500 people. That’s excluding the one that are GMs but didn’t make it to top 500.

I don’t know the ratio of console to pc players but getting 5000 on a harder to operate gaming device is pretty big.

how does that make any sense? he got to 5000 playing phara… an a well know OP console hero.

Still.

It’s fantastic. A lot of people play pharah. I don’t see a lot of 5000s though

If he was a pharah main then he also had a mercy pocket and the age old question arises, does pharah carry mercy? Or mercy carry pharah?

Anytime someone has a mercy pocket the damage boost they get counts as damage, meaning they get an unfair advantage over solo pharahs. Not just with phara, but with any hero

The game then considers the damage boosted pharah whom is doing 15k damage per 10 min is a much “better” player than the solo pharah who did 9k damage per 10 min, so it sets the bar for where/who/what the highest damage per 10 min pharah on eichenwalde(example) is.

This causes their mmr to raise, which causes sr to raise since they are outputting most damage per 10 min.

Plenty of top 500s stay on top ONLY because they have a mercy damage boosting them and raising their mmr due to high damage (due to mercy damage boost).

Imagine a solo soldier doing 8k per damage but carrying with precise kills/shots. The game will keep them at a 3800 sr (example) unless they raise their damage per min.

Another damage boosted soldier plays just as well but with the extra damage boost their mmr goes up and they climb to gm or t500.

Go watch him play. Yes he had a pocket but a lot of pharahs in GM have pocket mercies.

He plays like he’s literally above everybody else. He even destroys his ‘counters’. Sometimes even without a mercy pocket.

I like how people are going about it like you’ve seen another player reach 5000. Like he’s not playing against GMs and dominating. If it was this or that or because of x or y, why isn’t no one else doing it?

Overwatch console doesn’t get a lot of recognition like pc so I doubt he’ll ever join a league or even post a lot of YouTube or twitch streams. He only has a few videos.

And according to your theory, if soldier is consistently winning with 8k damage, I don’t see how he can’t go from 3800 to 4000. The game won’t keep you at 3800 if you win another 200SR

(Not gonna see his videos but its even possible he had a zen harmony orb just so mercy can focus on damage boosting)

This is where the game is unfair in counting the damage boost towards his stats.

Any player with a consistent damage boost will do more damage than solo players without and that will cause mmr/sr to rise.

He likely did it with the same mercy player, would he be able to do it without the mercy? So did the mercy carry pharah? Imo mercy is the biggest annoyance in pharmercy. Maybe u should be looking at the mercy?

they likely figured out the damage boost caused him to have the highest damage per 10 min among all other pharahs. Thats what caused his mmr to go up and sr to rise As well since he set the bar on damage per 10 min. (Thanks to the mercy)

You don’t understand.

If I see a pharah in my game and I switch to soldier or mcree, people can tell that I’m doing so to counter pharah. I won’t say I’ll kill her everytime but even the pharah (pharahmercy) would know I’m trying to gun her down. Infact hitscan is a good counter to pharah. Everyone knows this. Perhaps if I’m unable to deal with the poharah mercy or solo pharah, another teammate could take over and have a go.

But what happens when no matter how many times you go hitscan or how many teammates have a go, the pharah is all over you? Infact it doesn’t even look like he’s owning cos he has a pocket mercy. It’s like the hitscan turn to Zenyattas and he wipes them all. They can’t hit him but they see him. It’s like Genji trying to fight a Winston. No matter how hard he tries, if he doesn’t move, he’s dead.

Anyway if you’re not gonna see his video then there’s no point. I can’t explain it enough. Thats up to you. But a lot of GMs play pharahmercy. They don’t play it like he plays it.

Example, your team is defending Hanamura. Normally y’all play at the choke and try to hold them. You can’t not miss a pharah. Almost all pharahs hover above to try to get kills. Even at GM. Not Fankda. He lands right there in the backline and kills everything. So close yet he’s not bothered. I’ve never seen anyone else do that.

Actually Blizzard made changes in Season 4 to make it extremely difficult (if not impossible) to tap the ceiling (or reach the bottom for that matter). In seasons 2 and 3, players who would now be rated at 4600 were able to cap at 5000. Unfortunately this caused some undesirable effects with matchmaking (on both ends of the spectrum) and was adjusted appropriately.

LMFAO that is the ONLY thing we have going for us in bronze, now to tackle the rest of that list!

And the question remains could he have done it without a mercy?

Anyways the point being the reason he reached 5k is because of the damage boost which is a flaw of the game.

I do not know if he could’ve done it without a mercy.

But you are failing to recognise my point. There are people doing the exact same damage boosting pharmercy in GM. Why haven’t they reached? Why is he the only one. According to you it’s because he damage boosts right? But is he the only one doing it, yes or No?

My Point being the biggest reason he got where he is or was is solely because of the mercy pocket/damage boost which inflated their mmr/sr.

Find a good mercy pocket slave and you can do the same or at least rise to top500

in my experience plat is good at combining ults, so good they use all 6 at once

Well then that’s a trash reason.
