Ever since I opted to change my 1060 6gig to my 6650 XT I’ve been having issues running Overwatch 2. I had played Overwatch 2 in the past on my 1060 6gig with no issues at all.
Every other game I’ve played has ran smoothly and without any issues. It’s confusing to me why this only happens with overwatch 2 and not any other title.
I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times
I’ve tried adjusting graphics settings in windows, running as admin etc…
I’ve tried updating and going back in drivers (since the newer ones give other non related issues)
I’ve tried changing settings in the adrenalin software
I’ve messed with ingame settings trying to fix it
CPU - amd ryzen 5 - 2600 (i know, a little outdated but it ran fine with the 1060 6gig)
GPU - amd radeon 6650 xt
RAM - 16gb ddr4 3200
Hope someone can help since I’m stuck on what to do.
AMD cards do this for the first 5-10 minutes that the client is open. They basically force a recompile of the shaders every single time you open the game. Sometimes you luck out and it doesn’t happen again for the rest of the day, but it’s super annoying. After it’s done, the game will drop back to normal CPU usage and your GPU usage will return high again, since the CPU bottleneck is gone. You’ll know it’s done when your CPU usage at the main menu drops to like <10% depending on how many threads your CPU has.
At least this is how it was up until months ago when I swapped back to an Nvidia GPU. Assuming it’s still a problem, since it had been one for over a year prior.
