CP for losing should be a thing

Due to the fact that wait times can be so harsh , along with just pure sprtsmenship , I feel if you lose a match in Competitive you should still earn 5 CP. Otherwise it is just a waste of time and effort. a lot of us have jobs/families/lives that simply don’t allow us to play for hours and hours everyday . in fact some of us only have a few hours on the weekend to spend at best. Time is a valuable thing , and perserverance should be rewarded as well.

Casual game deserves participation trophy, makes sense.

Their is nothing casual about it. Competitive is hard and takes time. A dps player, which is the majority , can spend 10 min.+ waiting for just one match. so after waiting that long, playing a match where say they did very well in but still lost the match, has now spent around 23 min. of their time with nothing to show for it. How many times in a day do you think someone with a family or job or whatever can do that and still feel motivated to earn a gold weapon? and as long as someone is trying, that effort deserves some level or pay off…

If it’s competitive, why should anyone be rewarded for losing?

That’s the definition of a participation trophy. You do that in non-competitive, casual leagues.

Your argument is to reward players for their effort (participation). Not sure how to make this any clearer.

so then why not just reward the top 2 players on the losing team 5 CP…that way the people that don’t really try still walk away with nothing, yet it rewards the efforts of the top players.

You don’t for the same reason that gold medals do not inherently mean you played well.

Doesn’t even broach the fact that calculating such a thing would be unfair at best and ridiculous at worst.

I feel it would encourage everyone to try their best…which they should anyways but we all know they don’t…

If you need a carrot to try your best in a competitive game, it’s not the environment for you.

Oh no!!! It’s going to take a casual OW player longer to get a gold weapon than a person that plays all the time!!

It’s sounds to me that a gold weapon in a video game is the last thing you need to worry about if your so busy with real life.

If you are pressed for time you should swap roles. Better time management for you, plus ow needs more tanks and healers. Sounds like a win, win to me.

Smurf and boosters would abuse this by throwing matches on blank accounts until they accumulate enough points to buy all gold weapons to resell.

the only thing this will do is encourage throwing

You’re literally asking for a participation medal. That’s kinda sad dude.

Gotta agree with others. If you’re trying to grind CP, play a role with shorter queue times. Play DPS because you enjoy it or want to rank up your DPS. But if you just want to grind for CP, then playing the role with long queues just doesnt make sense.

I have a full time job and I can play for around 6 hours per day which sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. I am working for 4 years now and I am playing DPS role in competitive.

No one is playing competitive to earn gold weapons and take that as motivation and that shouldn’t be anyones motivation to play competitive. Because that means “I can slack and get something”. No! You slack, you get nothing.

You might be a casual if you are collecting gold weapons.

Why not just make gold earnable in all modes except custom games? As a time played thing, that has a multiplier for wins.

SR is comps reward ( or punishment ).

CP shouldn’t be a thing in the first place. You should win x amount of games with a hero to get the golden weapon for that hero.

That’s how it was when I played Paladins, and I think it made sense. The gold weapons were tied to an achievement. You hit a certain level on a character, and were rewarded with the gold weapon for that character.

Coming from that, it always seemed kinda weird that in OW I can earn the CP by 1-tricking a character, and then use it to buy a gold weapon on a character I’ve never even played lol.
