Counterswaping has become the norm and I do agree that it belongs in Overwatch and it definitely belongs in ranked.
But nowadays I can’t even play QP or OQ without getting counter picked.
Sometimes I just want to play Winston, but then 2 mins in the game the enemy switches to Reaper and Queen or I want to play Rein and the Enemy goes Orisa/Ram and Sym.
So I’m proposing that Blizz should add an Arcade game mode where you can’t change, your Hero, like in other games like LoL.
I’m not saying that this would magically save Overwatch but I would really like to play one round where I’m not forced to Swapp Heros all time
Edit:Before somebody is again angrily typing that counterswapping is a part of Overwatch and I’m delusional for wanting it gone. Just know that I don’t want it gone, I just want one extra game mode where you can’t Swapp Heros, because I think it could be a fun experiment

If you cant switch people will simply leave.
Tank are too strong in ow2 and if you want to increase your winrate you have to switch.
People dont like too loose QP too without coordination only dps who can win 1v1 vs winston is probably reaper.
Blame dev not players

I’m down. I’m not a huge fan of swapping either. It can be fun, but people gettin real swetty bout it.

That’s why I said make it a different game mode to QP.
Because nowadays Overwatch is so sweaty that even QP feels like ranked.

Honestly, more hero diversity would be welcomed/addressed for this: a Winston-like hero that can fight skirmishers; a Reinhardt-like hero that punishes bulk/“burst” damage.
Yea, but then you’d either have the ultimate hero, or we’d just see a swap battle.
The point isn’t to fight reaper, or have a tank that is good against anti-tank heroes.
The point is to prevent swapping, so no one hard-counters you intentionally, and you feel like you HAVE to switch.
Don’t you see?
The point is to be MONKE.

is a problem only with hardcounters. softcounters are fine
I feel like counter-picking on support and DPS makes sense.
But tanks? It sucks because it’s so feast or famine. Either a tank is so good that they’re universally dominant, or they have to counterswap because they’re the only tank, and being counter-picked by the opposing tank puts such a huge disadvantage on your team.
Shoutout to tank players. I’m sorry y’all have it rough. I wish things were simpler and more fun for y’all.

Definitely, but most people go to the hard counter and I doubt that blizzard will keep their promise of no hard counters in the game
I feel like several changes to DPS and supports, as well as tanks, have sort of made me feel like they walked that back.
Which kind of simply just sucks lol

Sometimes I just want to play insert any non Kiriko/Lucio support and the enemy goes Winston/ Tracer/ Sombra
Then I swap and a teammate swaps to make the game playable and the enemy “just wants to play Winston, but the enemy switches to Kiriko and Reaper”
The game is too counter focused, but part of the issue is brawl and dive comps force counters because of how oppressive they can be to heroes they counter.

Sure and counters are needed. I’m not proposing a general swapping ban. I’m proposing a “fun” gamemode where people don’t care so much where people can play there promiset hero fantasy.
Its also a kinda can we stop the sweatiness post if you will.

Well, I think they’re just realizing that it’s a promise not so easily fulfilled.
If you get rid of CC because it’s annoying, well, CC was also a good counter to mobility.
Now mobility is the annoying OP part.
What are you gonna do, strip the game till it’s just CoD? Even CoD has soft-CC flashbangs.
CC and mobility are a major part of games and good tools for skill-expression.

I was just saying that it’s a design thing.
I’d like for counters to be less necessary so counter swapping isnt needed and counters aren’t as oppressive, but idk how they’d go about it.

Although, isn’t swapping the thing that sets Overwatch from the other FPS games out there?
Plus, we are missing some variety in Tank (and Support) role;
- You could have a Tank with a dive ability like Winston’s, but replace the barrier with something like damage reflection (potential Doomfist rework).
- You could make a Tank with Reinhardt’s deployable shield, with Charge/Firestrike being replaced with an ability that does %max HP damage to the enemy.
It’s really not. And that still wouldn’t solve the problem.
I mean really, did you not hear the man?
He just want to play MONKE

For me, the thing that sets OW apart from other Hero FPS is that there are a lot of different Heros who don’t fit a FPS roaster like Rein or Doom for example

Perhaps. Although, there’s not much they can do to address the Tank issue (I doubt they’ve considered bringing back 2 Tanks per team…).
You can make many teams work. Skill is clearly an ability that matters, but so too does team composition. Oh, Reaper comes out against my winston. Oh, well, they still have 2 divable supports and 1 long range DPS and a slow moving tank.
Winston is going to need more counters than just 1 to stop him if you play right. The harder problem is say you are playing hammond, but the enemy team has fielded cass, sombra, and Brig. That’s exceedingly rough to play into as solo ball UNLESS your team compounds the dive strategy with you guys. Hammond absorbs some CC, but you got your Pharah/Tracer with you to help dive.
