Dive isn’t coming back lol. Sigma and Orisa are still really strong, these nerfs only make them more reliant on each other now. Winston can’t be meta with Dva still being kinda bad and Reaper/Doomfist being good, Tracer and Genji still get shafted by double barrier and the crazy amount of CC, and Zen can’t be played consistently against Doomfist.

Adding some potential to characters/compositions that are currently extremely weak isn’t forcing anything, just attempting to improve balance. It would take much more extreme changes than that to force dive into the meta.

In Masters/GM only was dive actually played. I cant tell you how many plat/diamond teams went “Let’s go dive” and played the chokepoint with Dva/Winston/Tracer/Genji.

This isnt the same game. A Brig will still provide enough armor to make dive plenty harder, and a Sigma/Zarya/Sombra/Sym/Brig/Baptiste team can probably counter any dive assault.

You actually have the opportunity to make a counter comp to Dive before it becomes “Dive or lose” again. Please don’t do another year or more of “Dive or lose”.

Supports are already looking pretty bad for variety. Buffed Dive against Ana or Zen? Yikes that sounds incredibly unfun. Moira and Baptiste nerfed. Brig sucks. Sooo what are we left with? Lucio and Mercy? Ugh.

Dive is superior to Rein Zarya, Orisa is nerfed and Hog only really works with an Orisa. So 2 maybe 3 Tanks being viable. It’s not looking good so far as far as counter play to Dive goes.

Then for DPS you have the incredibly annoying Tracer, Genji, Widow, and Hanzo as the viable DPS. So even less fun for Tanks and Supports.

Please use this first ever opportunity to actually get the game a bit more balanced.

The counter is to be at a rank below Master.

Pretty sure that is statistically incorrect. People still played Rein quite a bit, because Dive was pretty difficult. Reinhardt was an easier option.

What we have now is far worse. Bunker/Double barrier is imo, the easiest thing ever and the most effective.

I’m not the guy you replied to, but Jeff posted on the forums during dive saying that it wasn’t played below Masters. And there was a separate post giving the competitive tier distribution. GM was 1% of the player base and Masters was 3%. So, they said 97% never played dive. The actual number is 96%. Very close though.

And I don’t have the historical pick rates, but dive was the most diverse meta. I will back them up on that. I don’t remember specific numbers, but the pick rates at lower ranks were really well balanced. And even higher up there was more counterplay than with bunker, double shield, or Goats.
