Counters shouldn't just straight up delete the hero they counter

For example Zen vs Doom or Pharah vs Widow. A counter should have an advantage in a fight against you. But with good positioning, cool down management, and game sense you can out play them.

A good example is Brig vs Rein. If she takes on Rein toe to toe he will crush her. But if she manages her abilities and keeps track of his fire strike cool downs/shatter and watch for charge she can kit him around and pull out a win. All counters should be that way. Where yes they counter that hero but with skill they can be out played.

Pharah can deal with widow, you just have to be directly above her. Doomfist is kinda stupid and Zen stands no chance, but Doom does that to multiple people

Blizzard Entertainment disagrees with that. They like if inferior players can feel good and share their accomplishments in the Overwatch Reddit.

Yep. The easier character is usually better. Especially when abusing sound issues from behind.

Thats like saying if you play widow just hit headshots, and you win.
If you get directly above a widow as phara, that widow is really really bad.

Genji vs Winston is the only balanced duel that involve a counter that i can think of. If the Winston can’t dance on his bubble properly and manage his cooldowns he’ll get melted by Genji’s RMB, but if the Winston is good at those the Genji has no chance unless he gets help from a teammate.

I kill bad Doomfists with Zen all the time.

Threads like this are amusing.
So many complaints that are just ‘i tried to play alone in a team based game’.
There are 0 hard counters in overwatch that are not easily overcome with simple teamwork.

Hack on ball is the worst hard counter in the games history.

It can be somewhat map dependent with flanking options for pharah to take a position without widow having sight lines. For example offensive Pharah on Volskaya could fly left around the map and get widow from behind before she knows you’re there.

On maps with those options it becomes more about the pharah playing smart and how well positioned the widow is. But I agree that isn’t possible on all parts of all maps.

It’s pretty much awful for many heroes.

Doomfist
Tracer
DVa

are at the top of that list with Hammond.

Yeah, the Doom has to be bad for you to have a decent shot, like, one that can’t do slam>primary>uppercut. If a good Doomfist hits literally anyone else with slam alongside you, you have to have put discord on him, and you have to get 3 headshots, before uppercut. It’s ridiculous. if he just does it to you alone, you still have to get 3 headshots, and that’s still before he does uppercut. Really dumb imo.

Or have your teammates kill him while he is focused on you.
Team based game stop trying to play 1v1

This is true I may be a terrible dps but I can’t tell you how many times I was about to wreck a zen and his team saved him

All characters can out fight their counter it’s just harder for them as it should be otherwise there is no point having counterscatvall.

it really just comes down to competitive players vs the subset that used to be mercy mains, and have become mercy/brig/moira/mei mains.

blizzard needs to keep those players happy, but mercy mains do not want a balanced game, and those heroes are inherently impossible to balance. either they are bad by mid diamond, or they dominate the meta.

but blizzard needs to hit that target demo, so one of the mercy main heroes will always be broken.

And lets see when they launch echo and all the no range heros will be not viable against the triple flying hero meta.
