Counter to bastion

Why do people think Genji is a hard counter to Bastion?

Because of deflect and high mobility, and the fact most Bastion players don’t stop shooting deflect until they die.

Personally I think Hanzo, Reaper, and Widowmaker are far better counters to Bastion.

Everything is a hard counter to Bastion.

He’s a sad robo.

Because he used to be a hard counter to bastion

Not when I play him. I beep boop beep all over those fools. ā€œIf you need shields to play bastion, your not a good bastion.ā€

Sadly the old counters to bastion does not work anymore plus there are loads of counters to bastion now so genji or tracer are obsolete nowadays

Hanzo is my go-to counter for bastion.

Hanzo definitely, he can infinitely out-spam Bastion and make him way too irrelevant in the fight to be usable, and he can roll the whole fight by providing shield break. Also gravdragon is game over unless the enemy has a support ult or skilled absorbtion ability control.

Reaper kind of can do it but you have to be really sneaky about it because if you get caught before your first shot lands you often are forced to wraith away and hope for next time.

Widow can do it by removing the supports from the back and then getting rid of Bastion but is less of a direct counter than Hanzo because less shield break.

Ppl say junkrat but hes often more of a minor annoyance, he can spam and force repositions, but he’s liable to getting shredded and his ult control has to be very sneaky.

Ana is huge because of sleep, nade, massive healing, and a nanoboosted Rein can wreck a bunker if done properly.

I don’t think any player above gold does this.

I never heard ā€œhardā€ counter but he can counter Bastion quite well.

Deflect is often talked about but that’s only a way better tool for closing the distance to Bastion. Aside from the ā€œdrop from nowhere directly in front of Bastionā€ trick, no self respecting Bastion player will kill themselves vs deflect.

Once Genji is close enough he can rip into him with his fan (Bastion is so fat all 3 will hit all the time) and dance around him with ease.

Also, careful using tank mode vs a pro Genji. That dork will deflect your artillery in your soon to be pissed Mercy’s face.

Genji has all the tools to outplay a Bastion. But the catch is out playing him before he has mowed down your team. <–I think this is where a lot of people misunderstand what countering a hero is. You have to consistently kill or shut down a hero BEFORE they mess up your team. Afterwards does no one any good.

I miss old deflect. I’m no dumby and shot deflect but Genji has this thing called Dash right? So when you are low you know Genji will Dash-Melee/Stars right in your face.

With the new cancel deflect, it now is a game of chicken. Will he end deflect early seeing I’m not shooting at him and go for the kill or will he wait out the duration before making his move.

Half the time it’s a gamble. You shoot a sec before it normally would end to catch him just as he Dashes in to finish you off or you die to a deflected shoot.

Been playing a lot of Zen and when Genji moves in (i almost always take some sort of chip damage) I often end up in this stand-off. Wait it out and catch him as it ends or anticipate the cancel and shoot a little early. Fail and I die. Succeed and watch Genji’s limp corpse sail across the map due to dying in his Dash.

Bastion is generally played with a pocket, plus he has damage resistance in turret form, his critbox is behind him in turret form, and he has his own self-heal. A well-supported Bastion is going to be very tricky for a Genji to solo kill without blade.

Well now we aren’t even talking counters. You are pitting one Genji against a fully supported Bastion? No hero can do that.

His dmg res in turret is meh, was better prior to nerf. When Genji his dancing on him fanning like a mad man his hp drops fast

Genji is a flanker. He is one of the few heros who can easily get behind targets unnoticed. Making him really good at getting at the weak spot.

If Bastion is self healing to stay alive he has already lost the duel to Genji or is likely running and healing. In which case you have dislodged the Bastion which means his team can be easily pressured again.

I didn’t say Genji is god at killing Bastion. I just said he has all the tools to get the job done without any support.

Lots of other dps have nothing to really contest a Bastion except pure dmg and often require support in the shape of dmg amp, barrier, phat heals, ext.

If the enemy has a Bastion, I am more then cool with having a Genji. Way more then say a Soldier, Torb, Doom, ext.

If I see a Bastion, I immediately switch to DVA or Sigma so I can soak up the damage while the DPS work on killing him.

Those two tanks are the biggest Bastion counters out there.

On PS4…there’s a bastion in every single match (literally) right now. Entire teams are being carried by horrible players playing bastion. And the moment you try to tell them what they need to do to counter him - they get salty at you and just play horrible to spite you because you ā€œdaredā€ tell them how to play.

As a tank main - I have a few choice words for people at this point who want to come into comp and get salty when asked to switch heroes by (most of the time) their entire team.

If you’re going to one-trick…please at least tell your team that you’re a one trick so they can compensate for your lacking. In my experience…most one tricks get rolled with ease on this game.

Bastion doesnt really have hard counter. But most hero roster can counter him well with some brain cells and team work. If anything hard counter him, its the team work.
