Actual question. I don’t know. Like if they made a roadhog junkrat trap comp(just to give a fun example) which is more about pulling your opponent in then diving or brawling.
I’d say probably no.
Any other comp would, like a trappers comp or utility comp, or turret comp, would all be subcomps under the banner or Poke/Dive/Brawl.
Although I don’t know what I don’t know.
I guess 4th comp is no comp. Random heros that don’t have any obvious reason to be ran together.

Not fundamentally, i think. Poke, Dive and Brawl/Rush are not terms exclusive to Overwatch and it’s pretty much agreed on that they’re the “mother categories” of compositions. Most comps derive from that and tend to have similar advantages and disadvantages from it.
A 4th comp, if it existed, would be something that people that play card games usually refer to as"mid-range", which is neither pure aggro or pure control, but a blend of both.
I guess you’d need a 4th way to play the game which is kinda hard because like you said they’re all broad enough to fit whatever other version into it.
I feel like a trapper comp requires a hero who can work as bait where the other team would chase them. And I don’t know how you do that

I think Dive came from MOBA, but I could be wrong.
At some points its like when we have first person shooter and third person shooter do we really need to create another insanely broad category?
Dive/Rush/Poke are those broad categories.
After that you get into specific variations of them. We have predominately 4 dive tanks with Winston, Hammond, Doomfist, and Dva. I’d say each one has its advantages. While the DPS roster is incredibly flexible for dive with say traditional high mobility sombra/tracer to simply a mixture of mobility + range. Echo/Pharah.
I’d categorize a Pharah/Mercy, Kiriko, Winston, Sombra as a dive team. Season 5 was an Ana/Brig/Winston, Tracer/Ashe/Sojourn/Echo/etc type of season.
Literally S6-S7 was as Mei/Bastion/Sigma/Orisa/Bap/Illari poke comps with probably Brig sfilling in on occasion. DPS always being rather diverse with poke with say S76 being a suitable fill in.
I think the thing I’m stuck on is roadhog specifically. Like, he doesn’t fit cleanly into any comp really.
He kind of fits into the poke mindset. Immobile. Poking for damage. Fishing for kills on hook. I’m not really going to press W into you, but rather deny you pressing W into me and try to pick you off one at a time.

Many characters have different playstyles on different compositions. I think you’re missing the forest for the trees here: Dive, Rush and Poke are compositions, not characters categories. Of course a hero can be “more optimal” on one than another, but that doesn’t change how those comps work. What changes is the playstyle.

i’ve always considered hog + symmetry a completely different comp, symmetry to tele hog around and a mei to wall off the hook target.
Technically, all comps can be broken into 2 categories: passive and aggressive. Dive and rush are essentially the same thing if you think about it.
