Could not move after character selection

As mentioned above, I was in a competitive game, and I could not move after choosing a character. Voice chat and typing chat were working fine. I entered the game just as I was opening a loot box which could have bugged out the UI. Since I couldnt move, I was forced to leave the game, receive the SR and timeout penalties as well as dropping down a rank.

Contacted support and was recommended to seek help here instead.

It was both mouse and keyboard inputs not responding?

If you’re using any programs with an overlay feature, such as Discord or Twitch app, please check to ensure the overlay feature is disabled. These features may kick on if you hit the hotkey by accident, stealing input focus.

If that’s not the case, let’s look at a system report.

Encountered the same issue. Picked a hero, mouse was working, I could navigate the menu and type in chat, but my character couldn’t move. I lost 50 SR points and was banned for 10mn for inactivity because I couldn’t start moving. A few friends of mine also encountered this problem in the past few days.

This has happened to me as well. Especially on Hanamura. I had just opened a loot box. Its happened to me 4 times and now I am banned for 8 hours! FIX YOUR GAME AND UNBAN ME!!! You have stolen my 60 bucks or whatever.

Just want to chime in and let you know I also experienced this bug after yesterday’s update, but after a restart I didn’t experience it again. I am usually helping other people troubleshoot, so I tried everything I’ve learned on the forums to investigate the cause, but I can’t reproduce it.

Actually to advise, I received word, that even after the patch last night. Players may still be experiencing this issue.

What the… bro,this client it’s serious, since the update of “halloween” i’ve been bombarded with bugs in champion selection and unabling of moving my character,i’ve already lost 53 SR and been suspended, what the fk… that 53 SR means a lot when you are grinding, PLEASE FIX IT ASAP, i am not using any other external program, nothing,it happend often when it search for a game and i am not in the lobby as usual,i am in settings or champions gallery or what ever other menu of OW menu list… fix it, are blueholes designers and developers working with blizzard to or what?

i just had the same problem on xbox. it’s unbelievable, and of course no refund for our ranked point lost, thanks this game, after toxic player, toxic game

Same thing just happened to me, I don’t really care about the 50 sr but I don’t enjoy being banned because of something I had no control over

Yea I just had it happen to me as well in a normal game. I think I opened a loot box just before and I got booted from the game and my group for inactivity as I couldn’t move my hero at all. Tried in the practice range afterwards and it worked fine but it was odd.

I saw this happen to my friend twice on junke stein. Thought it was just that but then happened to me in Comp. Xbox.

This also just happened to me on Xbox. Lost 50 sr and 10 minute ban. Entered comp match while opening Halloween lootbox.

Just lost 50 SR and have a 9 minute ban after this happened to me just now. Had to exit the game, then had a patch applied. Now my friends have to wait for me to be unbanned, and losing 50 SR for a bug is beyond ridiculous.

Had the same problem yesterday! I still could use ESC and go into the menu so the maus and keyboard was still present, but i simply could not move at all while a mouse arrow was visible on screen… after restarting everything was fine again!

This just happened to me right now and competitive right after hero selection my keyboard or mouse would it connect I was just playing a streak of games back-to-back with no issues so issues so I restarted the client to return back to a 15 minute ban this this is some bs. I Literally just lost is a ranked game because of your broken game.
