I have a controller. I grew up playing platformers on console so when I moved to PC it felt natural for me…! Until I started playing Overwatch during open beta. Then I understood why the keyboard/mouse was so popular.
To each their own though. I still use my PC controller to play games where precision isn’t all that important, like Assassin’s Creed and Witcher 3.
Nowadays, if I’m playing on a controller it’s because I’m drunk with friends/in a 6-man in qp laughing my butt off.

You’ve figured out the best way to play.

It’s the exact opposite for me. Controllers feel unintuitive and lack the functionality of the mouse and keyboard.
Of course, practice enough and it’ll become second nature.
I use it on occasion. Junkrat, Pharah, Symmetra, Moira, Mercy, low aim characters. I’ve used Lucio with a controller to prove a point, and while moving is much harder I was still doing my job.
You can still play, but it’s much harder. But you can get good at it.

I’m not interested in playing with KBM at all. I am however glad it works for you.
If you have any interest of playing the game competitively you need to learn KBM. Purely because you’re disadvantaging yourself and your team by being the only guy using a controller.
Honestly ,my best advice is get used to KB&M , I also absolutely HATED it at first ,but eventually got used to it and now I prefer it over controller in PvP shooters
Just learn how to use a mouse and keyboard

As it turns out, I made a really good friend by doing that. LMFAO
And? He’s eaiser on PC(Just like every other hero)
This is (for now) one of the only rooty tooty point and shooty games my friends play on PC outside of Destiny (which I play with a controller and it’s phenomenal) I only play games on PC that are MMOs or game my buddies end up getting into. I purchase 99.99% of my games on Xbox One/PS4/Switch and learning KBM isn’t really a problem as I have played it in OW before - I just want to play with a controller and wanted to know how some people used it and if they enjoyed it.
I’m not arguing what is or isn’t better because I don’t care. KBM just isn’t for me.

I don’t understand all the people posting telling the OP to just play KBM. The OP has been pretty clear about not enjoying the game while using KBM.
Play the game the way that you enjoy playing. If you want to play competitively, I’m sure your MMR will place you with similarly skilled players.
Sometimes “better” refers to how much fun your having and not where the skill ceiling is.

The friend who got me into Overwatch was a Hanzo main who swore by controllers, even on the PC. But after a couple months of playing, she tried keyboard and mouse and quickly concluded that her aim was vastly more accurate that way. That’s how she plays Overwatch now.
That doesn’t mean you can’t have lots of fun playing with a controller—you can. But your play will be nowhere near as good as it could be with a mouse. If you’re okay with that, controller away.
So did I at first. A year into exclusively PC gaming your mind changes and you then decide you hate controllers with the passion of 1000 burning suns. I’m telling you, stick it out and it’ll be worth it.
I do not buy PC games unless I’m playing it with a friend who can only play on that platform. I vastly prefer console gaming to PC gaming. Just my personal choice.
My girlfriend uses controller for buttons and movement and mouse for aiming and shooting.
Honestly, the controller and mouse combination seems to work well for her and she is happy with it.
Hpwever I can’t reccomend to anybody because there are major UI issues that prevent you from playing the game well using partial controller keybindings.
Basically, the game operates as if the user is using a MnK or full controller setup at any given time.
For the purposes of rendering the UI, it will only show you one of these two states at any given time.
But when using the controller WITH the mouse things get really tricky. The UI flickers because it’s acting as though you are switching between the two layouts all the time, because you are moving with the controller and shooting with the mouse during the context switch to render the mouse UI and controller ui, it causes the screen to flicker BADLY.
So just go full controller or MnK on PC. On console you’re stuck with controller. On PC, the UI cannot handle the two at the same time.
Good to know! Thanks for your input!
Every day we stray further from the light.
Also, why? Most games that aren’t competitive shooters the use of a controller makes no difference, if it is a competitive shooter kb+m is objectively better, the frames per second (and overall visual quality potential) is always going to be vastly superior, and the communities are typically older and more mature players in comparison to those on console. Aside from an exclusive game here or there, I don’t see the reason for preferring consoles. They’re overpriced and underpowered.
Not a problem.
Honestly I would be a nice feature to get fixed, but it is kind of a niche use-case so i’m not sure it will happen.

Playing the devil’s advocate, they seem lucrative in todays GPU pricing scheme…
