If your controller disconnects during a match, the game will not recognize your controller until you restart the game, forcing you out of the match and, usually, giving you a ban and annoying loss of SR. Your xbox menu controls still work, so the controller is connected, but just the game won’t recognize the controller until you force quit the game and restart it. Super annoying since I play with my controller wired so it shouldn’t be disconnecting in the first place.

Yep, Just happened to me and got a temporary suspension. So annoying. Not to mention the lost SR. Been grinding all day and my controller taps my desk and disconnects. Thus it wont be recognized and the match I just loaded into will now shut down. Where is the fix to this?
SAME!! Wtf! I got suspended for 9 minutes, went from gold to silver and went down in endorsement level. All because OW wouldn’t recognize my controller again after I walked too far away from the Xbox. The Xbox menu controls worked but OW behaved like there was no input.
This has been a problem ever since I got my new Series X. If the controller DCs for battery loss or other and I reconnect it… I can use the Xbox menu but Overwatch says “please reconnect the Xbox one wireless controller” until I restart. Has kicked me out of several games now.
Is there a fix for this?
Bruh they need to fix this bad. We are losing hundreds of sr for no reason

Still getting this issue on Xbox Series X. Luckily I’ve only gotten it when I’m actually idle and my Elite 2 controller disconnects. But after turning the controller back on to get back to it, the “Please reconnect” message never goes away, and it’s impossible to do anything at all. You have to restart the whole game. Very annoying!

May 2022, Controller still not recognized during a •disconnect•reconnect• scenario. Batteries die, then it’s instant game over.
