Controller advice

I need some tricks to turn faster and make aiming more consistent sometimes I can get tons of headshots on moving targets but others and its like my control stick is too slow or too fast and when I adjust it in the settings it just doesnt feell like it does anything…

I am not switching from controller to Mouse+ keybgoard so none of that please.

I use ps4 controller and its pad is very usefull fo rextra buttons.

Maybe try changing from dual-zone to exponential ramp? Dual zone basically creates two zones, low sensitivity within the center, anything far from center circle will be higher sensivity. This helps with aiming with lower senisivity for small movements but also helps when you need to make drastic changes for example doing a 180 to kill a flanker. But maybe try using the other’s besides dual-zone to help ease into the sensitivity.

Or maybe its vice versa, maybe you dont have it on dual-zone and should try it lol

First of all what are your overall ingame settings, sens., aim assist, window size, smoothing, aim ease, aim techinque?
What I’d recommend is a sens. between 50 to 70 both horz. and vert.
Aim assist and window size is up to you, but I’d keep smoothing down to 0 or maybe 10.
Next try using Linear Ramp with aim ease at 30, might take a bit to get used to but it does feel better than dual zone or exponential ramp once you get the hang of it.
Button mapping is also important, I have jump bound to left trigger, movement abilities like sprint, dash, blink, grappling hook and so on to left stick.
Primary ability on left bumper and secondary ability on right bumper.
Secondary fire on A, though I am using a controller with extra paddles and from what I can read so are you.

if you just want to turn faster max out the sensitivity. (trust me 100 sens. is actually pretty low in Overwatch compared to other console shooters)

I would also recommend raising aim ease in to 50 (it slows down the movement of the crosshair when you barely move the joystick) This allows you to be more accurate with higher sensitivities.

100 sensitivity on both
0 aim assist
0 aim smoothing
exp ramp

As somebody who loves using a controller, I honestly advise you not to use one, and yes, with apologies I say that despite the fact that you asked for none of that. I say it anyways because it really is for your own good.

I work nightshift but I am going to bed if I remember correctly, I just removed the deadline from my controller and that’s helped a little I think I’m on linear with 30/9 sensitivity, my aim ease is around 40 atm and my aim smoothing is a question mark cause I forgot. I’m on PC so I don’t think I have access to aim assist, nor would I want it, ive played on PS4 and was way worse at aiming.

If your on Pc just use a KB+M
Its better

I don’t mind the mouse aspect but im prone to carpal tunnel and I’m ambidextrous, keyboards really are never probably going to work if they made a left orb weavers I’d give that a try.

I empathize man as I am also prone to carpal tunnel and controllers are just a looooot easier on your wrists. If a game will let me (Played through Evil Within 2 and Fallout 4 with a controller the whole time, lol) I would rather use a pad, but it’s just such a disadvantage in shooters that I use a KB and mouse for OW anyhow. Even if that means I play less.

Mix it up. I use a PS Navigation controller for my left hand, and a Razer Naga Hex mouse for my right with actions bound to the buttons around the thumb-rest. You get the ease of movement of the analog stick, along with the aiming precision of a mouse. (This is all on PC, not PS4 by the way, before I get haters hating)

That’s not a bad ideas at all!

The key is to make your input device as consistent as possible.

Dual zone and exponential ramp both work against this, giving your thumbs heaps of mixed feedback.

People argue with me on this all the time, but it’s hard to argue with “consistency allows you to develop mechanical aim.”

I run 55 horizontal 35 vertical on Linear ramp, with 50 aim assist strength and size.

The lowered aim assist is so it’s as subtle as it can be.
Aim assist is something else that adds inconsistencies to your aim.

I use 99 smoothing but 0 ease in.
You want your sensitivity to be as consistent as possible.

The rest is hard work and determination.
That part is cross platform <3

PS. A brand new player can perform reasonably well with dual zone and max aim assist, but your thumbs are never going to learn any good habits. Linear ramp exposes you to your raw mechanical aim. Which is good, because it is your mechanical aim you want to work on.
