I have to imagine that the people that were in the meeting (you know the one) are probably giddy about being able to reveal what was said behind closed doors….they’re after all no different than you or me….so do you think there’s any wink wink going on in their videos?
I watched the most recent YO video which mostly talked about game mode variety and hero pool-like selection….and I found myself wondering how much of that is just his wishes and how much of it is subtle indication of things that might have been discussed….he obviously can’t just outright say something is coming…but a discussion about things he would like to see in game?? It’s not like these aren’t things that have been mentioned in the past….so you’re just making MORE videos about something you’ve discussed before? Hmmm…
Anyway….I’m curious to see what topics get covered going forward by some of the content creators…just to see if any patterns develop
They’ve been shown all the new heroes laughing all the way to their big business and banks where they then have loud open conversations about their excess of wealth and luxury with the fire roaring in the background and cigars smoking away with Ativ ticker in the corner with bourbon pouring and under the table handshaking. Chortle chortle
The YO video was very interesting. When people are under NDA, what they don’t say is way more interesting than what they do say.
For example, the YO video briefly mentions that OW2 was delayed, but doesn’t mention when it is delayed until - although the focus of the video is how 2021 was a bad year for Overwatch and that the bad times are coming to an end. Put 2 and 2 together.
The video also goes to great lengths to avoid mentioning OW2 in the context of the Blizzard/CC event. I think that is rather telling, too.
He did let one thing slip, though: there were gaming journalists at the event too. So whatever it is, it’s big news. Gaming journalists don’t care about a new Experimental card. They’re not going to brief them weeks in advance about a clan system. This is bigger.
I think it’s hero time. Maybe even a Beta release date. Maybe (although less likely) even pre-orders and a retail release date announcement.
EDIT: I just watched Stylosa’s video. He mentioned that they weren’t shown anything and weren’t given specific details of anything but were told about “things happening in 2022”. Again, careful not to mention Overwatch 2 in this context but telling the audience to put 2 and 2 together.
Tbh the fact people think the delay meant 2023 was fun as heck to me. We never even had a release date to begin with so it could very well have been a simple 2-4 months delay from april open beta to maybe like june or something.
I’m expecting a Q3-Q4 2022 retail release at this point. The game has already been significantly delayed (mainly due to the pandemic) - they clearly don’t want to push it to 2023 if they can avoid it.
I believe the original goal (when they announced the game in 2019) was to release in 2021.and then a few things happened:
the PvE game wasn’t received as well as hoped at Blizzcon 2019, so additional work was put into make it more replayable
it became apparent that a solution for queue times would be required, resulting in Team 4 moving to a 1-3-2 ruleset and then, later, the 1-2-2 ruleset for PvP
a pandemic
We know that huge amounts of this game have been completed for literal years at this point (maps, in particular - but there’s also at least one fully-playable hero that has been on the bench for a year+ now). They were showing clips from the PvE cinematics in February 2021. Most of the last year will have been refining, balancing and polishing. This thing is surely feature-complete by now.
We’re in the final months now. We’ll know for sure either when they have their event or when Activision-Blizzard releases their 2022 projections.
Yeah i know. I’m just happy overall that they decided to actually delay the game rather to release it unfinished and fix later. I don’t mind waiting till near the end of the year for it as long as we get a great game.
You and everyone else lol. They will release open beta thats pretty much a must because for contenders and such it would not make sense at all to play OW2 and then get home and go back to current ow.
I don’t remember this happening though, as the devs clearly stated that the mission was just put together but was not final, not even the cutscenes were final IIRC
I wish, but I honestly doubt it. I know how much they care about this game, and spoiling anything would hurt their chances of getting more communication like they got.
So, it is my understanding you would not complain if we were left in complete and utter silence from the Devs until OW2 released? Because that’s the alternative.
We either want to hear OW news, or we don’t.
“But we didn’t get told” because it’s not ready yet. Regardless of who got told, the streamers sharing “WE HAD A MEETING” is an indicator that we know something is going on.
I’ll take confirmed “the devs are hard at work” from someone else than radio silence from everyone.
Well I just watched sty’s most recent video and he flatly says nothing was “shown” to the creators during the call….that it was more ideas being presented
I think it’s very unlikely that any content creator would do anything that can even remotely be considered breaking their NDA, not just for the legal repercussions but also because they don’t want to be left out of the “inner circle”
Oh I think they can get away with a lot….I highly doubt that OW2 isn going to come with features that are so fresh and new that it’s never been discussed by the community (of which these content creators are also members)….they can continue to discuss stuff like they always have…now with perhaps with some more confidence if they know similar stuff is coming….
Like I mentioned up top hero selectivity is not exactly new….we’ve talked about it many times before…they can’t spell out how blizz will do it…but I imagine they can still talk about it as we have before….basically talking about it without actually talking about it
