Constant Crashing

Overwatch 2 has been crashing constantly on the Nintendo Switch since the latest patch update.

I cannot finish a single game, either as soon as a round starts, or up to a minute of playtime, even after several game re-starts. This also doesn’t only happen every so often anymore. It’s gotten much worse, that it’s happening in every game launch. I’ve been penalized from Competitive several times now as a result of this, so I’ve refrained from playing the mode out of caution to prevent a full ban.

I’ve searched around, and have come to the conclusion that this problem isn’t specific to the Switch console, as it’s also in effect on PCs and other consoles.

As a result from this, I will simply just fully keep from playing the game until this gets sorted out, since the experience has been nothing short of stupid and utterly frustrating.

I really hope this gets fixed soon. Thanks.
Until the fix.

We are not currently seeing widespread reports of crashing but with a playerbase as large as this one (many many millions) Even a tiny percentage of .01% would be a significant number of people and could make an issue seem like it is more common than it really is.

That isn’t to say there isn’t an issue. I know we are investigating some FPS issues on Xbox. But for crashing, most reports we do come across have a local system or client cause.

Troubleshooting can be a bit limited on console, even more so on switch because of their closed access nature. Our primary recommendations would be to clear any cached save data for the game. From there you can try to do a reinstall of the game and finally if that doesn’t help make sure you have all your console account information verified and consider doing a factory reset of the console. Sign back in, get all console updates, reinstall the game and retest.

Now that is assuming we are talking about actual client or system crashes. A lot of folks interchange disconnection and crashing terminology so if you are disconnecting that is a different set of steps (though includes also doing the above.

I recommend turning off all systems including the router and modem for at least 60 seconds, boot the modem back up, wait until its fully rebooted, repeat with the router and then turn back on any connected systems.

You can try switching your DNS settings to use a free public DNS servers instead of your ISPs Servers:

We do not have individual steps for specific modems or routers so if you need assistance accessing or updating the devices, contact the device maker/provider.

Do you have the ability to try another of the same console on this network? Or can you take your console and connect to a different network? See if the issue changes at all. That can tell you if the issue is specific to the console, a network specific issue or an issue with the console network itself.

If the steps above did not resolve your problem we recommend contact your console’s manufacturer for more assistance:
Sony - https://support.us.playstation.com/
Microsoft - Xbox Support
Nintendo: Nintendo Switch Online - Nintendo - Official Site

Hello. Thank you for replying.

First and foremost, I think it is possible that you’re not understanding the root of the problem; the latest update is the main issue here.

I have scoured and asked in Discord servers, Twitter users/pages, and have gathered enough information to conclude the issue actually is a common issue, as of late, based on the amount of players that agree with similar experience.
I also did the quickest of searching here, and I have read that other players are experiencing crashing fairly often now as well, in all platforms after the patch.

To deduct your suggestions of quick fixing, I have noted the Switch error code I’ve been getting with the crashing: 2002-2060.
This error code is known to be singular and specific to the software running, and not necessarily with the Switch itself, unless the console needs an update, which doesn’t. It entails the game/app is either corrupted, misperforming, or bugged. Common fixes for this have been found to be uninstalling and reinstalling the game, clearing it’s cache, or simply wait for an update. This alone lets me know the problem is game/app-based.

I’ve basically tried everything to fix, except for the un/re-installing process, but I’ll get to it as soon as I can. If this process isn’t fixing the problem, it’s apparent an optimization update will be needed.

I’ll keep you updated. Thanks.

yup its the game causing issues, just look at the number of complaints in this section alone

they are just trying to shift the blame on something else.

even not getting any comp matches is the fault of my internet, ( in a queue for like + 50 mins ), and have zero matches found

when I can log in and quickplay. EVERY Singe day

they really need to work on their customer service standards. it is very bad for a billion-dollar company.

not to mention the non existence of a anti-cheat system.

this game is full of cheaters.

aimbot that locks onto your head, it is so obvious yet they can’t even have a System that detects such hacks

I have been having crashes with this game(OW2) from the very beginning of launch. I have played since OW1 2018 and rarely ever did it just crash where it left me with an error report (I’m talking a handful, no more than) Now when I play OW2 I have constant crashes on the daily and I refuse to play comp because of it. I always send the error report and I do what I am told by uninstalling and reinstalling then if that doesn’t work scanning and repairing OW2. None of which work. My endorsement has gone from 4 to 1 because of it and now I get back fill games every other match. It has completely ruined the experience and has forced my hand in not being able to compete in seasonal OW2 ladders. :-1:

Literally has happened to me multiple times this season and even more so this week - i play on switch - my controls randomly stop working and then my movement is basically hacked for lack of a better term. I play Mercy/Moira and I’ll be sent flying backwards with no ability to stop moving backwards followed by an “internet crash”. I know it’s not because I was in a game with my fiancé who is on the same Wi-Fi as me but plays on PlayStation - it’s aggravating. Really hope the issue is addressed

Replying to myself because it is still happening. Just played a game and crashed while winning. So annoying. Fix it pleasssseeeeeeee

Just happened again - this time while playing with all my friends. Really inconvenient

I’ve had similar errors to everyone here, I’m getting stuck on “Entering Game” and then it kicks me for inactivity even while I’m still stuck on the loading screen and I get a penalty of 75% Experience. I have 15 matches remaining because of this error. I haven’t played or left a single match since season 4 started. I play on Xbox. I was doing quick play and not the competitive one. I can work with the penalty; but it is quite annoying how it doesn’t even let me do target practice.

Overwatch 2 comp has been crashing for me all day the second I load into a match, at first I thought it was my Internet so I restarted the router and check my connection to make sure it was good and it was.

I then loaded back into Overwatch 2 comp and the second the round started the game crashed again and I was banned for it the whole season.

Can I please be unbanned in comp I did nothing wrong and it’s not fair
