So we all know genji was injured and has gone through many revisions and repairs from Mercy. Well she went through extensive testing using his body like a test bunny and constructed her current suit from the results of her data.
This allowed her to make a suit that keeps her in good condition while winning over brownie points from those around her.
What if her suit drains energy from the dragons to sustain her youth and she was able to establish a connection to genji’s dragon through her data? That would explain why his dragon is so much smaller than Hanzo’s.

But I used to think that the dragon is related to the body. Since genji doesn’t have most of it, Soba (his dragon) is much smaller and needs a sword to be properly channeled. It would be too weak otherwise.
Hanzo channels it straight from his arm.
