Since these changes were not “groundbreaking”, most of them were in OW 1, others are recycled etc etc , and it also felt some were kind of rushed (hero bans)

You have no idea how many people either purchase every single skins they release or buy the entire battlepass the first hour it gets released.

I think that, from a monetary standpoint, they are banking heavily on the China relaunch going very well. Which is pretty understandable considering what a huge market China is. I mean the fact that they’re reintroducing free lootboxes seems to suggest they’re not overly worried about the monetisation right?

I assumed the lootboxes were going to have credit-only items, such as OW1 skins and default recolours. Is that not the case? You know more than me.
There seems to be some weird perception that Blizzard has cobbled together some massive update in like 2 months lol.
What has actually happened is that Blizzard has spent the last year pouring all the effort that used to be focused on white-elephant PVE projects into the PVP game that people actually play, and now the results are starting to show. For the first time in the history of Overwatch, huge PVP content drops are starting to happen and people don’t know how to handle it.

It’s obvious whole thing is rushed and out of nowhere to try to save this game, we’ll see but perks are a mess and hard to balance, and stadium moba mode is most likely a flop it’s more like an event mode for vacations not a permanent one
They are not, that came from the skill trees of PVE just cutted and recycled to PVP, if thats groundbreaking for you after 10 years of the game, you are very easy to please.

Only two hero shooters have perks that I am aware of. Apex Legends and starting with Season 15, Overwatch 2. No, they’re not ‘recycled content.’. Recycled implies that we got it before, and then Blizzard ‘recycled it’ to give it to us again. Even if you want to desperately cling to the idea that the perks are just recycled talents, the talents that were initially supposed to come with the Hero Mode were PvE only and would have zero impact on PvP at all.
So for Blizzard to give us these perks that directly tie into the PvP modes? That’s a big deal. The upcoming Stadium mode is also a first. I haven’t seen anything like it in any other hero shooter, certainly not Overwatch. The two heroes also look pretty damn unique.
The 2.15.1.2 branch that creators were playing on today traces back to at least mid-October. But go on, tell me more about how rushed and ‘out of nowhere’ it was.

The perks and stadium could allow a whole new cycle for the game.
It will depend on their implementation. If its added quickly and dirty (buggy, lazy or imbalanced), it might cause a lot of discussions and gives the feel of the game drifting again.
Yet if its well implemented, it will give OW a new year of being unique. Any step taken away from MR is welcome so ppl would stop compare them pointlessly.
