Consoles players need MNKB support

I play on both PC and console, so this isn’t a huge deal to me, but one of the developers’ priorities right now should be to give console Overwatch players the ability to use a mouse and keyboard and split the player pools based on input.

It’s literally the standard in most popular games, at least in this day and age, with the next-gen consoles being so affordable and prominent that they can easily support mouse and keyboard for Overwatch 2 on consoles.

I’ll just list some games that support it already.

-Warzone

-Fortnite

Modern Warfare 1 and 2

-Paldins

-Cold War

If PC players don’t want to put up with aim assist stuff in their games, that’s completely fine, but can we at least acknowledge that there’s a growing number of console players who maybe just want to play on mouse and keyboard or even just play with their PC friends?

I don’t even want to see “Just buy a PC,” because that’s literally the goofiest argument ever. Not everyone can afford them, and consoles are way more readily available these days.

Cross-play does not work at all between console and PC players. There’s literally no way in hell a console player is going to be able to keep up with a PC player, especially with no aim assist.

It’s nice for all the console pools to be merged together and all, but what about if someone has a friend on PC and they play on console? They’re going to have the worst gaming experience of their lives trying to compete with superior input.

I honestly don’t even see the point of PC players and console players having the ability to play together if they intend to keep it this way.

I guess I should probably quickly mention some of the benefits of supporting mouse and keyboard on consoles and splitting the player pools based on input and why it should be one of the developers’ priorities.

  1. Console players who don’t want to play on a controller will now have the ability to use a keyboard and mouse.

  2. Console players and PC players can now effectively play together.

  3. Cross-play will be more functional.

It’s really depressing having that one friend on console who’s playing with PC friends and being forced to play characters like Winston, Mercy, or others that require very little mechanical skill because if they don’t, they simply can’t compete. It’s ridiculous.

I really hope the developers do end up prioritizing this and actually making it a thing; otherwise, there’s just no point in cross-play existing at all between console and PC players.

I don’t really understand why console players have aim assist removed when playing with PC players. I personally play with very low aim assist and have been lowering it as I play, because it helps me be more accurate, but I know I am not the majority whatsoever.

I personally think that MnK support is coming. I use a keyboard when playing, but it only functions to type in match/team chat rather than scrolling through a digital keyboard with a controller lol. When pressing ‘escape’ on my keyboard, it opens up the menu in-game, so I’m guessing that they intend to eventually add support for it, since there is some semblance of inputs with keyboard.

Yeah its really annoying on console. Its so easy to tell who is on a mouse, they are practically cheating. This happens even more on the top ranks, I’ve reached top 100 but I’m convinced anything below 100 are mouse and keyboard players.

I made a thread like this in ptr feedback and 1 commenter repeatedly argued saying in summary “just buy a pc”.

I agree with your thoughts and I find it weird that blizzard didn’t include it for OW2. Platform racism shouldn’t be a thing

Exactly what’s needed right now, genius idea.

Personally, only shooter game I play on a console is Splatoon, and I absolutely love the gyro controls.

I don’t see how a console can distinguish between the two inputs to put players in separate pools.

I guess it’d be neat? I have little need for mkb support for Splatoon and never once wondered why I don’t have it.

i completely agree, just let the players play the way they want

YES, YES, like all other F2P games do that. WE NEED IT ON OVERWATCH PLEASE BLIZZARD PLEASE

I disagree some like controllers and that would make it miserable

The reason it’s cheating isnt because m + kb, its because m + kb + aim assist.

then go to your pc

to you

one of the developers’ priorities right now should be to fix the game and remove the bugs

no and the system cant reliably detect the input, giving people more opportunities to cheat using mnk against controllers

Yup, its overkill. Thats exactly why blizzard bans aim assist on pc lobbies for controller players. They know certain people will modify their controls so they could have both aim assist and the perfect aim accuracy of a mouse.

No. Mnk on console is borderline cheating is a crutch.

I fully support this idea yes

In some countries a PC costs 4x times more than a console

There are aleady MNK players in console you like it or not, just give the people that want to go to PC queue with it the option to do so. Plenty of other games do it

So?

If you really don’t want to buy a pc to play with your friends there’s a thing called crossplay and it works perfectly fine

Ok the logic I’m seeing here is “since there’s already cheaters anyway, let’s ruin console experience by making it more accessible.” People will plug in their mouse and say they want to stay in console pool. Nobody on console likes finding some mnk widow

They absolutely can. Where’s my proof? “Um, every game I listed?”

No, this is just wrong. The priority of the developers should be to make the Overwatch experience better for players. There’s no one specific way of doing that.

This wouldn’t affect PC players negatively at all, nor would it affect console players, so I don’t know what you’re trying to argue here. It’s only a win-win for everyone and a better Overwatch experience overall.

No…just no. There are way too many console players who cannot use MNK, which isn’t even a standard accessory for consoles.

Read and then write; I swear it’s not that hard.

A mouse and keyboard only costs £20. That is less than the price of a second controller
