Console sniper stats and settings?

I’ve been practicing widow on another account lately and I’m trying to figure if there are any best or “go to” settings for snipers on console, before just blindly changing everything about and end up with a wonky jittery reticle that jumps all over the place at the slightest touch.

I know that some of it is user preference, but like how sensitivity on PC isn’t so much preference as rule of thumb being low, I’m wondering if there are any such things that are just known changes to give better control for snipers on console? if that makes any sense.

Also, I’m wondering what is considered decent stats like scoped critical % wise for example. I’m a pretty crappy widow (hence the practicing) so I know my stats are going to be pretty bad (they’re actually rather good atm for the most part, but that’s because it’s low level QP while I get to 25 for comp, lol. easy to shoot people in teams with no coordination and usually lacking in tanks.) I looked up people on overbuff playing widow and it’s saying the top people and pros have about 20% (with some crazy people like babybay having 26%, can you imagine that? a little more than every 4th shot is a headshot? absolutely crazy.), and looking through others I see that 14% shows 68th precentile.

Mine is currently 11% (ya, it’s pretty ***, I know), but again, that is in quickplay with no idea how well it will translate into comp, but hopefully even being quickplay that shows a level of accuracy that is there and it’s more about having to now find the shots in a coordinated group rather than being able to make them. It is pretty crazy though that a difference of 3% separates 25th percentile (RIP me) and 68th.

I’d appreciate any help or input available.

I main Widow on PS4. You likely won’t get many responses on the forums for Console questions.

For Widow, I would say you want to aim (pun…) for a scope accuracy of 50%. The 40’s are all right, but you really want to be in the %50 - %60 range. That’s where I usually am. On great games, I’m even near %70.

Scoped crit accuracy you want to be around %15-%20. Headshots with Widow takes practice. A lot of people overthink it. Sensitivity is a factor, as is understanding character silhouettes and movement.

For Options, it really is personal taste. I have tried everything. I used Dual Zone until Linear was introduced. I used Linear forever. I always had issues with consistency using it. I’d tweak and tweak… it just was never right: Too fast… Too slow… to much drag… can flick, but not track, etc.

No, the best option is Exponential. It just is. Especially if your soft on the stick like me. You set your sens relatively fast, so you can flick shot, but have it ramp so using the stick softly allows for smooth tracking. Exponential does this with ease.

I suggest leaving Aim Assist Max. Turning it off was an old method for Dual Zone. It no longer applies in most cases.

Aim Assist Window is another factor. It affects when Aim Assist activates. I have it at 100. I’ve used it as low as 0 (only works when reticle is on actual hitbox). This is preference, but it all depends on when you want the “pull” to happen. I actually like it on 100. It slows it down so I can be precise and make a clean shot when on my target.

Aim Smooth, I have at 0. I hate it. It affects the input of your sensitivity. It delays it. With Exponential, I feel it’s unnecessary. It’s unnecessary for everything really, except maybe Linear, because it’s weird. I don’t like having to hold the stick ALL the way over to get my full sens. It’s either a small push on the stick to move slow, or a hard push to be fast. This way, you can perform grappleshots and all that. If you move too slow, you’ll never hit those. I say put it at 0. You get this delay otherwise. You’ll push the stick left or right, but it’s not instant. It’s quite useless.

Aim Ease, I have at like 5. Opposite of Aim Smooth, it affects the ramp. You can fine tune the strength of your sensitivity. There’s no delay.

Aim Assist Ease In, is like Aim Ease, but concerns aim assist. It controls how quickly the strength of your assist interacts with your reticle when near targets. I leave this at 100. You could lower it to make the “pull” motion you get from aim assist less apparent though.

Recoil Compensation should stay on. Don’t turn it off. It affects where your reticle will return after firing. I used it both ways for a while. Definitely like it on.

Widow’s own scope sens, is up to taste again. Lower her Grapple sens though. Otherwise it sticks to random stuff.

My settings are somthing like;
50/50
100
100
100
0
5

50 - scoped
30 - grapple

Exponential

Aim Recovery - On

Nothing special there huh? I tweaked and tweaked forever. These are my latest settings. I’m no longer inconsistent anymore with my shots. Using linear with all these weird settings I’d have a mixed experience. Great games, then off games. No more though.

I’m typically in the 3400-3600 range. Wish you luck with your Widowing.

No one can really help you with sens, because it is a bery personal thing. Everyone has learned a controller a different way, so each method caters to a particular muscle memory.

You just need to learn what is best for you and just stick with it for awhile. A lot of it is just playing around with it and finding what helps. If you are just barely overshooting on flicks, maybe aim assist and the window will help. If you are having issue with really fine smaller movements, maybe increase the aim ease in so it takes a greater movement of the stick to move from zero.

Generally you have you main sense as what is comfortable to do a good 180 movement on a flick that you can control (much like a mouse), then adjust the other things for personal taste for each hero.

update, I have a bit over 3 hours into widow on qp now, the account has gone from 14 to 19, and my critical accuracy has gone from 11% to 13% which overbuff says moves me from 25th percentile to the 54th. the trick is to actually keep it there lol. that could be in part from this game though

I don’t even care that it was quickplay that is hands down the best game I’ve ever had on widowmaker. I’m actually proud of that game and nobody can tell me different :joy:

I don’t know if I can make it to placements before the end of this season, but I definitely should sometime early next one if not. I’d be surprised if I could even break gold, I’ve been assuming somewhere mid to high silver to be honest. I guess we will see soon

EDIT: I just realized I have been looking at the wrong accuracy stat in game. I have been looking at the regular one, which has indeed gone up to 13, but the one below is the actual scoped crit % and that is actually 14%. So go me
a bit over 4 hours now and lvl 20
