Console ow VS PC ow is the biggest difference i have ever seen in a FPS game due to horrendous controller aiming system

Ow is my most played game ever, around 4k hours since launch through every season.

And my biggest issue as a console player was always aiming. Not that i couldnt aim well, i was even top 500 several times when i grinded in early seasons, then peaked in t10 in deathmatch but it NEVER felt natural or good to aim in this game, never.

In any game before in 10 years i never had such a problem, cod; bf, apex, any aaa FPS i just chose my sens and never looked back, never thought about settings again. I aimed where i looked and all felt natural.

No fps game needed so many settings as console ow and yet all works better, it feel like blizzard just threw at us their developer kit for settings because they were unable to create proper aiming system for console maybe because its their first console game.

You can set just one aim assist window for example; its not adjusting by distance… just example.

In warzone, i dont even have problem with native pc enemy players, best console fps players have almost same chance against pc players in games like cod, its just balanced.

In ow? Pc players would dominate so much, you can tell by first frame of the video that player is on console or pc, no console fps game ever have such a massive difference. And one of the main reasons is awful aiming system.

When i tried pc overwatch free weekend i immediately looked like twice better player.

In 4k hours playing every season i have never found good natural settings for all distances and encounters, while in any fps console game ever before i found it in first day of playing.

This is more like my hope for OW2, i hope they will rework it completely.

TLDR - OW is my favorite game ever but it also has one of the worst aiming systems for console players i have ever seen, creating massive gap between pc and console players, if OW2 would want crossplay, then aiming system for console has to be completely reworked.

Thats is because those other games give you WAY to much aim assist. Controller players get to basically have hacks in those games cause the aim assist locks on hard

And yet PC players still have advantage, so why not buff it?

Good example are console players who switched to pc.

You would never tell by their t500 gameplay on console that they could reach t500 on pc, because of the sluggish controls. Yet all people i know got t500 on pc too after switching. (If they were t500 on console) Because they were just caged in the horrible aiming system.

OW2 needs thousands times better controls for console…

Because PC player don’t want to play against people who can only complete because the CPU is holding their hands.

People will keep asking for more and more help from the CPU until they are equal.

Just keep them separate. Aim assist if fine as long as everyone is using it. It shouldn’t get mixed with M + K players who don’t use it at all.

Look at fortnite they have cross play with mobile devices. Are we going to buff aim assist so people bumbling around on their phones touch screen can get TOP 500 as well?

Why? In mw it works great, best pc players still snap heads by clicking and have advantage against console players but console players have pretty good chance against them too, in ow this matchup would be horrendous.

But anyway, let them be separate, i dont need crossplay, but i want natural aiming between console players atleast.

Yeah. Honestly, it’s funny that you mention Apex. I got into that a week or so ago. And, you’re right, it is pretty natural. You can “fine tune” to make it better. But, even just picking up and playing it, for the first time, without touching anything (settings wise), I was rather impressed.

It’s funny you mentioned this too. Going back to Apex Legends, if you dig through the settings, you can find a lot of stuff. There are settings for like everything.

But, the thing is, they’re there to fine tune an already good experience. And they’re very straightforward to boot. Many of them even telling you flat out descriptions of what the setting does.

OW, you have to mess with everything just to get it acceptable. And, without looking up settings videos and that like, It’s hard to really know how those settings will affect your gameplay. All you really see is the name of the thing, and numbers on a slider. That’s not enough information for most people to really understand what a setting truly does.

Apex breaks all that down, tremendously. It gives you ample descriptions for everything you’re working with. And it makes the settings clear to understand. Most of them have some variation of “low, medium, high” or “small, medium, large”. and anything that doesn’t, will let you know exactly what the setting is and what it will do.

OW, is pretty bad at communicating this information, in my opinion. And, honestly, I didn’t get good settings, until I started looking stuff up. I shouldn’t have to go to a third party source, to do things like understand settings (and even gameplay), in a video game. That’s just bad design, in my opinion.

I agree. Honestly, I hope they do a lot of overhauls with the UI and the settings and hopefully they even put things in like an actual tutorial for this game.

You know, anything to help the average user, not have to scour YouTube or read a bunch of articles, just to understand a little bit more than the basics.

Yeah the aiming/look mechanics on console OW are total dog $#!T. Thats why i bought XIM Apex. I will warn u tho, genji feels like complete trash to me even with XIM. It’s really best for Ashe, Cree, Soldier, Widow, Tracer

Eh depends on the game. You can actually turn it off in some games and I find that I perform better without them helping me aim (especially because the elite controller fixed the primary problem controllers had).

I like overwatch on console better than pc. So I disagree. Aim isn’t everything. I think aim is fine on console and that movement is far superior. I also have no issues with pc cross platforming . Usually my biggest beef for that is lag but that varies

If u got to play ow on a 2080 ti and i9-10900K on a benq/asus 240 hz monitor w/ a G Pro Wireless mouse im sure you’d change your mind about that lol

…I started gaming on PC

I still prefer console.

U said u have lag on pc, so im assuming your build ain’t too good

Lag on console with pc players. The cross platform thing?

I do not like PC for games with movement like overwatch. It feels subpar

You kno u could just use a controller on PC OW if movement is the issue. Like i said tho I’m sure if you got to play OW on a beast PC with 240 FPS you’d change your mind

I literally would not.

The movement on console isn’t limited to the controller for just me. I can’t force PC off of mouse.

And I like console aiming with a trigger. In general, I like feeling as close to what I’m doing. Laser tag, paintball… If overwatch sold guns for each hero, I would Soo be there

How do u kno if you’ve never played it on beast PC w/ 240 FPS? Whenever i see someone say they switch to 144 or 240 hz from 60 they always say they’ll never go back to 60 and that they don’t kno how they played on 60

…because I have played on PC’s other games? You can’t play wow on xbox

Yeah but you’ve never experienced OW w/ 240 FPS really low input lag. If you did you might decide that you like it more than the 60 FPS input lag experience we have on console

I completely agree with you on the movement. I played in a PC local tournament, and while I adapted and acknowledged how much better the mouse was than thumb stick, I was amazed by how clunky 8-directional movement felt in a game like Overwatch. All the in between angles are super important, especially for characters like Tracer and McCree. I just always felt terrible having to quickly adjust my aim before a movement ability to make sure I ended up where I wanted.

To the OP, I completely agree about the aim settings. Whenever I feel like I’m peaking on my rank on DPS, it seems to come down a lot poor aim. And despite practice, it won’t improve. You can’t practice the various aim assist window sizes at various distances to be able to just slightly overcome your target with projectile heroes. And typically you have to choose whether you are going to have a flick or tracking style sensitivity.

Aiming isn’t that hard for me. Are you saying the aiming isn’t fast enough? Because if so just lower your aim smoothing.
