Input based match making helps the game. Allowing console players to use mouse and keyboard helps controller players.
If history is any indication, one thing is certain with this game. Once the “new” wears off of this already old game, PC players will start to decline. With that comes longer queue times, and complaints about queue times. Shortly after, there is likely going to be a “due to players not being able to find games, we have decided to end separate queuing for console and PC players.”
Allowing us to use a keyboard and mouse, and then us playing in the PC lobbies, will extend this timeline.
This might sound rude, but I only want to be straight forward, and maybe help players to realize something. I don’t want to play against controller players. I don’t want to be in your lobbies. Our paths shouldn’t cross. We help your game by keeping a stronger population in the keyboard and mouse lobbies. Both users are happy.
Will there be cheaters? Yes. Those cheaters are going to be around no matter what happens. (I’ve ran into at least one so far) Stopping mouse and keyboard support has zero impact, and stops absolutely zero of the players who are using XIM and Cronus Zen to intentionally play against controller players. However, without allowing keyboard and mouse, this tempts others into using such devices. Players who only want to play the game and use their preferred input method.
Games like Fortnite, Warzone, Minecraft, Call of Duty, and battlefield are all proof that cross play is here to stay. We must accept it, or miss out on gaming. All of those games, excluding Battlefield, have supported mouse and keyboard. Fortnite and Minecraft are two of the most popular games today. Warzone, from my understanding, is popular enough that there is going to be a second version of it.

Man I’ve been looking around so much for information about keyboard and mouse on console, I only have an XboX right now but as a former OW1 player on PC i’d love to get back to it using a mouse, not a controller 
But from what I understand it only works if I group up with PC players first and then connect keyboard and mouse, right? This really sucks.
As you say the Crossplay functionality should be based on Input method and not on device…

I’m seeing differing bits of information regarding support for keyboard and mouse. Some accounts says it works when partied with PC, others staring it doesn’t work any longer.
I wish Blizzard and the community could see that this would be helpful for the game. Sadly, even as they’re being dominated by XIM and Cronus Zens, it seems many would rather cry “unfair” than to grasp the fact we wouldn’t be in their games.

Im all for crossplay, its the only way forward with most multiplayer games but there needs to be something done about keyboard and mouse players on console, either make it so thay everyone can use them without the need for a 3rd party bit of hardware or find a way to make it inpossible to use on consoles. It gives way too much of an advantage versus control pads which ruins the fun of the game

M&K users on console are complete dweebs.
i was so hyped thinking that they would allow M&K in console like other F2P games do, i didn´t lose hope and i´m still waiting

i understand that it´s unfair, but i too understand that some people can´t stand playing FPS with a controller and can´t afford a gaming PC
So they give themselves a clear advantage over other players who are just playing by “the rules”, I get it. Yes I understand they’re not breaking rules. They’re just being dweebs and they can’t help it.
But the truth is that most of them, if given the choice, would choose to just input a normal M&K on the console and go to PC queue. I don´t think that it is about the advantage, it is about the freedom that M&K gives

That’s fine but they’re still going to continue to play against people playing with controllers as they do. It’s pretty unfun playing against M&K widows as a controller player.
if blizzard let them input their M&K in their console and play like other F2P games do, they´re gonna be matched against other M&K players, not controller players

Those who would continue using XIM and Cronus Zen doesn’t represent us as mouse and keyboard players. That’s just as those using Cronus Max, and other controllers designed for advantages, doesn’t represent you as a controller player. There’s bad players on both sides.
If keyboard and mouse support is added, those players will continue until the game devs find a solution. If keyboard and mouse support isn’t added, those players will continue until the devs find a solution. Adding or not adding keyboard and mouse support doesn’t have an impact on them. They are going to do what they are until being caught.
