(Console KBM Bug) Cannot bind Mouse 4+5 properly

Ever since the update has come out, I’ve been playing exclusively mouse and keyboard on console. However I like to use the thumb buttons and bind them with Melee and crouch (don’t get offended) but the thing is mouse 4+5 is recognized as Mouse 5 input only. I’ve already plugged my mouse into my PC to make sure they were their own separate keys and they 100% are. On PC overwatch I can bind mouse 4-crouch mouse 5-melee no issues at all, but on console the same mouse it’s recognized both of those keys as only mouse 5 after trying everything nothings working and it’s very frustrating. Can anyone help!!!

Yes!! The whole system is quite buggy, there is also a lot of input delay making it hard to aim and smoothly track. Hopefully we get a small patch to fix all this soon

any update on this? experiencing the same problem but on pc rn!

I believe I found an Xbox-specific M&K input bug.

Mouse: onn Wireless Gaming Mouse (MU126 / 100025011), with 4 thumb buttons.

On Xbox Series X:
• All 4 physical thumb buttons are recognized by Overwatch as Mouse 5.
• I verified this by assigning the buttons to their native Forward/Backward functions in the mouse software; all 4 are still detected as Mouse 5.
• I tried using the mouse software to remap the four buttons to O/K/P/L. Overwatch then correctly distinguishes all four buttons, but pressing any of them interrupts whatever keyboard movement key I’m holding.
• I also created a macro that sends a single keyboard key. It causes the same interruption.
• I changed Forward movement from W to I, and the mouse-generated keyboard input still interrupts movement, so this isn’t specifically a WASD problem.
• On PC, holding W while pressing a mouse button mapped to O does NOT interrupt W.
• On PS5, using the exact same mouse, all four physical thumb buttons are recognized as separate inputs and they do NOT interrupt movement.
• Therefore the mouse works correctly on PC and PS5; the issue appears to be specific to Overwatch’s Xbox M&K input handling.

This seems related to the existing issue where Mouse 4/5 are incorrectly detected as the same input on console, but the keyboard-remapping workaround also causes held movement inputs to be interrupted on Xbox.

Please investigate the Xbox M&K input handling/HID button mapping.
