There are essentially two ways that other shooter games have combined interact: Combine with reload or melee.
There is good reason to do that, since it is very rare that you want to both interact and reload / melee. So sacrificing a button just for an action that is rally used and most likely wont collide with another action, is quite wasteful even on PC.
And there are even examples within Overwatch where this has been done:
Looking through the telescope on Horizon and starting the Bomb timer in Retribution. This means the technology already exists and just needs to be made into an option for the players, which shouldn’t be that hard for an AAA game developer.
An option to freely double bind it with any action would be even better. This was way players can combine interact with a different action like ‘acknowledge’, if they want to.
