Console Custom Buttons Problem

The best way I know how to play Lucio is to make his jump left trigger so I can wall ride without stopping shooting. But I also want A to still be jump like it is with every other character because I keep hitting it to jump and he doesn’t and I die cuz I get confused/etc. I just want a way to make both buttons do the same thing. I know this is already possible because other characters can do that.

This second thing is a minor nitpick but when playing Moira it makes absolutely NO sense to have the left trigger damage and have the right trigger heal when the hands are the opposite?!? Why was that the default? I switched them in the settings so when I press left trigger her left hand heals and when I press right trigger her right hand damages. But the words still say the opposite above the buttons on the screen. I wouldn’t even mind having these words gone entirely since I don’t need them to tell me that the yellow hand is heal and the purple hand is damage. Anyway this is super weird.

Console works a lot different from PC & because of that there are some things we just can’t do because we simply don’t have enough buttons. So it would be awesome if the settings allowed more options so that we can do more like the PC players already can.

I wish that was the case i play on ps4 can i wanted to map a different button to emote voice line and spray but i have no idea how to do that

Totally agree with that Moira issue. Super annoying, but my guess is because console-users are second class citizens, this was directed solely at PC players (left mouse click I assume matches damage, while right mouse click I assume matches healing). But definitely counter-intuitive on console.

As for the Lucio issue, I highly recommend the Elite controller if you play on Xbox (there may be a counterpart on PS4 I don’t know about)! Just map one of the back buttons to jump. I also map one other to reload, which is super helpful. DO NOT map one to your ult, or you will accidentally use it all the time (definitely happened to me before I learned better).

yes there is a elite controller for ps4 i just looked it up

I strongly suggest you to remap the buttons for every character, not just Lucio. The best configuration that I achieved was:

R1 - MAIN FIRE
R2 - SECONDARY FIRE
R3 - MELEE
L1 - JUMP
L2 - MOVEMENT ABILITY
L3 - THE OTHER ABILITY
X/A - CHANGE WEAPONS OR BUILDING ABILITY

Yeah I switched L2 and R2 on Moira day one too, also Ana’s sleep dart to R1 because I just can’t scope aim with L2 and dart with L1.

I have tried the elite controller and i hate it, i can’t comfortably hold it in my hands. But it still wouldn’t solve my issue. I’m fine w/ using left trigger for jump I just want to ALSO have it mapped to A. So the same ability mapped to 2 different buttons. Other characters have this as a default feature, but there’s no way to do it in the settings. If u map jump to A it takes it away from left trigger and leaves left trigger empty.

On console right trigger is always shooting though, so it should’ve automatically been moiras damage. I just read a post about console being second class citizens and all the easy QOL changes we don’t have that PC has that other console multiplayer games have. We totally are second class citizens, it f**king sucks. We’re not considered, we don’t matter. :frowning:

This is incorrect, on PC mouse left click is heal and right click is damage, meaning that console mapping makes even less sense.

oh god no. I do have different settings for multiple characters. I could never change primary fire from right trigger, that would just feel wrong D:

I’d have to relearn the game, no thank you. :o

It would take some time to get used to, it would also require for you to learn to use the middle and pointing finger of both hands on each button, if you don’t do it actually.

But it is worth it, it gives you the freedom to aim and jump with every character, and if you fix in your mind the concept of movement related ability being in l2, the complementary ability on l3 and switch on x/a, it will grant you a good boost in agility.

You can achieve what would need a pro controller with additional buttons with a regular controller. And you wouldn’t have the need to trigger stoppers either, because your main fire would be on r1.

That’s so weird. Thanks for clarifying!

not for moira, i had to switch it to match her hands, too confusing. i like playing her the way i do.
