Hello all,
I want to make sure I understand all the ramifications of this so I’m going to use variables.
I have both a PS4 and a Battle Net account and as I understand it, I have the option to link those accounts. However, I have been playing Overwatch independently on both accounts. Let’s assume my PC Battle Net account has a Competitive Rank of ‘A’, a set of vanity items ‘B’, a player level of ‘C’, and an Endorsement Rating of ‘D’. Likewise, my PS4 account has a Competitive Rank of ‘Z’, a set of vanity items ‘Y’, a player level of ‘X’ and an Endorsement Rating of ‘W’.
If I link these accounts, what is the net result? Does one account take over the other or are the accounts merged somehow? Ideally, I’d love to see the following:
Union (B, Y)
Max (C, X)
Max (D, W)
As far as the competitive rank, I’d prefer see A and Z remain independent because playing on PC and playing on PS4 are really different beasts. Being able to McCree with a keyboard and mouse isn’t really equivalent to swinging my Baguette Flail on a console controller.
As far as I know, linking them gives you nothing. I have my PS4 and PC accounts linked through Battle net and it’s never given me anything from either account to the other aside from Twitch drops.
It makes me real sad.
Aren’t the drops at least synced after you do the link?
Like if I get that Safari Ashe skin on PC, with linked accounts, would it show up on Console if I hadn’t gotten in previously?
Sadly, no. That’s my biggest gripe. I’ve had the PS4 version of the game since launch but have only had my PC account for a little over a year. I had to re-earn all my unlocked items and my hours didn’t transfer so neither account accurately shows how long I’ve been playing the game and what characters I play the most.
That is very disappointing. But in hindsight, I suppose that means there is more potential for their users to buy loot boxes on multiple platforms. I’m sure that is where this decision stems from.
Certain promotional items are applied to all linked accounts. For example, the Heroes of the Storm cross-promotion, which allowed players to earn the Oni Genji and Officer D.Va skins for free, would grant those items to your PC account and any linked console accounts. BlizzCon exclusive skins are another example. I don’t know whether any/all of these would apply retroactively if you were to link your account now.
I believe OWL tokens earned through viewing applicable Twitch streams will also appear on your console account(s), provided your Battle.net and Twitch accounts are also linked.
Other than that, all it does is add your console Career Profile to the web interface. If you go to your profile, you’ll currently only see your PC stats, but linking your accounts would add a tab for PS4/Xbox.
Ok I’m literally lost. So here is my question. I have two different battlement accounts on my PlayStation. Like I have 2 accounts on my PlayStation with different Battlenet accounts. Can I merge them or not?
No. You can merge only ONE account per platform.
