I have for several months had an issue where i will be able to launch connect to and then enter overwatch only to suddenly have my screen freeze and after roughly 2 minutes i will be kicked from the main menu and the “Lost conncetion to game server” message will appear. I have tried evrything i can think of to fix this, including; Uninstalling and reinstalling, scanning and repairing, using task manager to close battle net, plain old restarting, and even searching for the battle net files in my pc in order to delete them and retry. Nothing works. I am completely stumped and don’t know what to do, the only times i can play the game are right after big patches and then only for one session until the old problem re-emerges. I would be very grateful if anyone could help me out.
It sounds like you have done most user-end connection troubleshooting, so I suggest investigate to see if a problem exists between you and the game server instead. A WinMTR test can help with this:
- Download WinMTR from http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
- Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
- Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
- Run the WinMTR.exe
- Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.

note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78 - Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
- Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
- Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between:

If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:
- US West - 24.105.30.129
- US Central - 24.105.62.129
- Brazil - 54.207.107.12
- Europe - 185.60.114.159
- Europe - 185.60.112.157
- Korea - 211.234.110.1
- Taiwan - 203.66.81.98
thanks for the advice, I just took a look at the download website for the link you sent but i’m using windows 10 and it doesn’t appear that either of the downloads are for windows 10, please correct me if I’m wrong
The program is very compatible for Windows 10. The logo shows the old Windows 7 logo but it works on Windows 10.
Hi sorry one more thing you have put two Europe IP’s but i’m unclear on which is relevant to me, I’m in the UK if that’s any help

Well, your test results are showing high latency or no reporting on most of your ISP’s hubs so in this case, it does not matter to you specifically. Since you have specified you are a European Player, I do strongly encourage to start a similar thread and share these test results in the new European forums. The MVPs and Blizzard Support Agents there will be more knowledgeable of any existing issues than I will be here on the American forums.
Ok will do thanks very much for all your help
