Connection to server failure on ps5

Help! I have just tried to play a competitive game, and just as the status says ‘game found’, it stalls then says it’s failed to connect to the server…no ‘rejoin game’ prompt, but the suspension kicks in!

I let the time pass, close the game and try again half an hour later and the exact same thing happens - so now an hour long suspension and goodness how much SR drop.

Why is this happening and why am I getting suspended when it hasn’t even connected to the server or given me a rejoin option? I’m a casual player but am proud of my progress to diamond over the last few years, I’m gutted!

The failed to connect to server error means your game client and computer didn’t communicate with the game server in a timely manner.

You would want to treat this as a connection issue, so running a WinMTR or PingPlotter test to the server nearest you would be the next step.
