I have a problem starting as of today 13-08-2019, and I can’t launch overwatch.
Blizzard app works just fine. however, when I click to launch the game, a new window opens and the game keeps trying to connect until I see the message “Lost connection to game server”
I looked online for a couple of solutions but it made things worse and the game window stopped launching or crashing.
One option was to conduct a test and share the finding if anyone can figure out the problem on the blizzard forums.

Same thing here, No friends list. When i launch the game it finds the game server and connect just fine (or so it says) but gets stuck on “Entering game”, after a minute or so it just says connection lost and requires me to log in again…
Hello Aoi and welcome to the Overwatch Forums. The results of your Looking Glass Test are a bit inconclusive as they don’t appear to reach all the way to your own router. To get a more accurate reading can you run a WinMTR test for me instead:
WinMTR instructions:
Download WinMTR from Download WinMTR-v092.zip (WinMTR) (Console players need a Windows Desktop Computer connected to the same network as their console to do this.)
Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
Run the WinMTR.exe
Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph, or go to Video > Options > Display Network Performance Graph if you are on any platform including Console. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to. note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78
Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~
If in the event you can’t even connect to Overwatch and get into any game mode at all, please use one of the following IP addresses based on your geographical region:
US West - 24.105.30.129
US Central - 24.105.62.129
Brazil - 54.207.107.12
Europe - 185.60.114.159
Europe - 185.60.112.157
Korea - 211.234.110.1
Taiwan - 203.66.81.98
If you cannot properly connect to BattleNet, your friend’s list may not properly load. Please also consider the testing method I have recommended above.
Thanks for your reports! There’s been some issues with the EU region and login issues and seeing the friends list. This may be impacting the Asia region as well. Restarting the Blizzard App can help with the friends list as there were issues with this earlier today.
As for the connection issues, we are looking into this. What region are you playing on? Are you able to login to a different region?
Let’s grab WinMTR tests as, WyomingMyst provided as well to see if this may be similar to the issues in the EU region.
It was all temporary, a few hours later it sorted itself out. Guessing it was role queue rolling out or server overload, I don’t know, i have no idea how these things work. Thank you for trying to help though!
