I’ve been having connection issues for 2 weeks now where the game would constantly connect me the wrong server where I would get stupidly high ping.It was first connecting me randomly between US Central servers and Taiwanese servers when I live in Egypt. Now it is connecting me to a wierd server that I do not know. I tried looking up the IP on here, but couldn’t find it. All I know is that the little four character name beside the IP is gtk1 (sorry, don’t remember the IP address). I don’t know the cause of this issue. I don’t know how to fix this issue. All I know is that it’s annoying and irritating to log on and have 300+ ping for no reason.
Can you describe where you generally reside? Also have you tried running a WinMTR test as it will be more accurate to describe a connection latency issue than a Traceroute.
WinMTR instructions:
- Download WinMTR from Download WinMTR-v092.zip (WinMTR)
- Unzip the WinMTR.zip file to the Desktop.
- Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
- Run the WinMTR.exe
- Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to.

note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78 - Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
- Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
- Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between:

Hey there, did you just run this test during the major outage the overall community experienced within the past hour? If so, I recommend try playing now.
Your provided test result is only showing 3 packets attempted to be sent which is not enough to determine if there is a problem or not. You should try to run the test for an extended time.
No, I did the test like 4 or 5 minutes ago but I only let it run for like 10 seconds
Yeah, the idea is to run when you think you notice a problem and let it run for several minutes.
Here is the prolonged test result

These test results are not showing any significant issues. There is an average of 1% data loss across the board but that might be just from when you first tried to connect (as your worst recorded ping rate shows) but it stabilized afterward. When you ran this test, were there any issues playing?
I was on 300 ping. Also, I decided to play a quickplay match and the game put in the right server. Does this mean there is no problem or should I just queue one more in case it was fluke?
Curious… it seems like the connection route for the WinMTR and the actual game connection may not be routing the same way. I recommend at this point starting a web ticket for one-on-one assistance from Blizzard.
