Good AFternoon,
This is occurring when trying to play Overwatch on both my laptop and desktop on multiple networks. Both devices have run great in the past. I am now in a hotel, but my friend can connect fine. I can also connect and run Diablo 3 just fine. When I launch Overwatch all appears well, It runs through all of the connection steps and then hangs on Entering Game… After ~30 seconds of spinning it puts up LOST CONNECTION TO GAME SERVER. Rarely (once, maybe twice) I received the ERROR: BN-563.
I have gone through the basic steps and even tried to change the processing priority to high as soon as the game loads (solution from ~2 years ago: Overwatch Forums)
Any assistance would be appreciated as I sit here and watch my friend, who I got to buy the game, play as I wrestle to get back in.
Have a great weekend,
Is your friend also in the same hotel? Because it sounds like the hotel’s network isn’t configured to allow Overwatch to connect. Also, the connection quality and speed will likely not be good enough for play.
He is in the same hotel and it runs great for him.
In the same hotel, Diablo 3 runs great for me.
Current Speeds:
DOWNLOAD Mbps = 259.56
UPLOAD Mbps = 926.08
Unfortunately, speed is not the same as quality. I suppose it’s possible that your friend’s room has a better connection/line in than yours. Can you try a WinMTR test? I’m not sure how successful it will be to diagnosing the issue because it’s a private network, but it’s worth a shot. If it doesn’t work, or we don’t find anything, you’d have to address this with the hotel.
WinMTR instructions (click to expand/collapse)
Follow the support documentation for WinMTR. If you’re unable to get into a game for the IP address, or you’re being connected to the wrong region, then use an IP from the table provided on that page that matches your usual region. Run the test until you encounter the issue again, or for at least 10 minutes.
Share your results in a reply:
- Click the “Copy Text to clipboard” button after you’ve finished the test per the instructions.
- Paste the text in a reply, then highlight the pasted text and click </> on the post editor.
- Break any links by adding a space before .com, .net, etc.
I had/have the same issue in my friends room.
I will run the WinMTR when I get back.
I appreciate you trying to assist!
