As much as I think this is a bandaid fix to both Sombra and Sigma, and I don’t love it because it does nothing to actually help her…
It makes sense from a Hack/shields consistency perspective. Sigma’s shield doesn’t function like Orisa or Winston’s. It functions in all ways like a Rein/Brig shield except it deploys outward instead of staying attached to them.
That is where the problem is. To be a pro you need to learn to shut down your emotions to take any reward from losing.
I have what would seem to be a dumb philosophy when my team would practice for an upcoming match.
“You don’t learn anything by winning.”
So we practiced against the best teams to learn how to lose with dignity, over, and over, and over again to learn how to win efficiently and consistently when it mattered most.

And that is right on the money. That’s exactly how I feel about a challenge c:
Unfortunately, most people in lower ranks have no drive to be greater in the long term, they only want that short term gratification for their playsession, which is understandable, but it does stifle their ability to learn, but again, they don’t have the drive to learn they have the drive to have fun in the moment. Feelsbadman.
I feel like a parent trying to say “Eat your veges, they’re good for you, they will make you big and strong, like the mountain!” and they’re like EW BROCOLLI REEEE I WANT CHOCOLATE.

It forces a barrier recall and disables deploy. Much like Reins shield.

Basically it’s a single target EMP for Sigma

This is the worst change.
Like, literally.
You want to tone down Sombra because of OWL so you nerf her, and instead of trying to balance Sigma / the synergy between Orisa and Sigma with double barriers (Which could be done or tested in so many different ways, between giving Sigma a small cooldown from when he puts out a barrier and retrieves it, something small like the cooldown on GA so it’s not so in your face or even something to do with Orisa’s shield) you instead give Sombra the ability to straight up remove his shield like what would happen if she ulted?
I’m seriously doubting every new change now, I want every hero to be viable without Blizzard backhanding us to force some kind of meta.
Sigma was one of the few tanks I would willingly play, especially in the 2-2-2 era and while I understand he probably needs nerfs due to a bloated kit full of utility this is just a bad change and kind of forces him into the off tank position IMHO. I may be wrong but these are my thoughts.

Quite obviously primary and secondary fire buttons that shoot at the enemy or heal are exempt from this button rule. Otherwise people wouldn’t be able to shoot at sombra back if they got hacked.
And it’s not logic, they have said so themselves.
I am just waiting to see what sort of nerf they push to “balance” out that buff.
i don’t like the change as well.
They shouldn’t let sombra counter more heroes with a hack but instead should’ve switched her power from utility into more “consistent damage” rule.
They keep forcing her to stay niche and weak so she can be a “go sombra if enemy has skills” pick. And that is also really frustrating to sombra mains to see her become such an passive and clunky hero

The change makes sense to me.
Orisa’s shield is an object she deploys which is completely standalone, whereas Sigma’s barrier is “projected” from him (hence being able to directly control its location and recall it).
Hacking Orisa shouldn’t affect her shield because it’s a separate entity that’s not tied to her once it’s deployed. Hacking Sigma on the other hand should affect his barrier because it’s not a separate entity; it’s more like Reinhardt’s shield that can be moved around than it is like Orisa’s.
I can get behind this honestly
Sombra meta sounds infinitely worse than barrier meta imo

Listen, experimental barrier is like Rein shield the only difference is that once you make it form you only move it to wherever you want. The moment you right click it exists.
Orisa’s barrier is a projectile which forms upon surface hit. That is why when you EMP and a shield is tossed out it wont affect it.
I am happy with this change and it will make my main playable again. Sigma has ruined the game for many dps heroes. This is welcome and good.

So Sigma/Orisa/Winston are now affected by hack and remove their barriers, that’s a nice little buff to Sombra after testing it.
If those were smart enough they would shoot Sigmas barrier until it is dead, when it is dead, it goes on a big cooldown.

Sombra was briefly “meta” (depends on the elo) when she could spam hack all game. It was the worst experience I ever had in this game. With all the awful CC in this game that should tell something.
Sorry to all the people who like her, but I hope this awful character never becomes anything more than a super niche pick.

Hack should also cancel Orisa barrier
It doesnt. This change only impacts Sigmas barrier.
