Targetted teammate blocks 75% of bonus headshot dmg, while on range/LOS, for example an Widow fully charged headshot would now deal 165 dmg (180 x 0.25 = 45 + 120) , still enough to kill an Tracer (she deserves it) but not much other than that, unless damage boosted (165x1.3 = 214) wich is fair counterplay.
Seeing as theres very little you can do as an support when one shotting is too prevalent, as you can see when playing against a good Sojourn,
The only options you have are outsniping them as Zen,Kiriko and Bap , running around them as Lúcio (and maybe Moira), or time Immorality Fields way too weel with Bap, i think maybe something a bit more targetted could maybe good for the game…? Could be too much RPS in play tho.
I mean yes but ya gonna give a big non personal shield/barrier to a support…? I suppose it could happen but then double shield again?
Also, barriers can be poked out more easily and break through non headshot dmg as well, this is waaay more targetted, wouldnt be as good vs non snipers.
This aint much of a complaint more so than an actual concept, theres no denying that the support role doesnt have a specific counter to snipers.
Question is if thats needed or not, if it goes too far off the skill-expression and too much into RPS…
Yeah you make a good point, if there is damage dealt boosting, a few of them easily appliable, why not a damage taken reduced…? Cant really break the game all that much, it even just kinda evens itself out.
Uhh, not really no, i play alot of Zen, you can maybe help deal with snipers perching but you’re going to just watch your teammates duel then more so, a Discord/Harmony does nothing and you cant really duel them if they are good enough, you have projectiles ,not enough burst dmg to beat them and a much bigger hitbox.
But granted, he is one of the better ones into snipers with Bap i agree, hes just not “wow they have double sniper lemme Zen ’ em real quick” depends alot on the map and stuff.
Hmm… no i dont think so, if you think about it thats just basically 45% dmg reduction from headshots alone, while it can be a decent thing to have, tanks take way more dmg thats not headshot as well, like beams and melee and whatnot…
Also armor + this caps at 50% before hitting the 65% it could have since thats how dmg reduction works so its not even that big a deal there either… doesnt work with Barriers nor Orisa much either… so no i dont think it would be that good on tanks… useful but broken? i dont think so.
Again, you CAN outsnipe them but often they will still take out your teammates before you can do much.
This is very RPS’y but… by itself it doesnt hard counter i think, the whole support’s kit can very much be balanced around said fact… also we have alot of things that hard counters stuff on the support category, non-burst dmg itself is countered by the healing, theres like Anti-healing… CC, Immortality, Suzu…etc.
We do need new supports though and i think this is a place they lack much say in.
Yes, as a player i will develop and implement new support heroes in the game.

I’m not saying that, this idea came more to mind to counter Sojourn much more than Widow/Handsoap mind you, also cuz Junkertown and Illios Ruins… etc.
I know this, but this is just an idea to maybe give a new support character other ways to counter snipers, where cover isnt as present, say on Junkertown or Circuit Royale as well… and we need new support niches, dont know if this is the right one but a new one.
This reminds me so much of this same complaint in TF2…
Player exits spawn, gets killed by sniper, respawns, goes right back out that same exit, dies to the sniper again… this cycle repeats for the entire match… then that player is crying snipers are op…
You dont grow and improve by playing against players worse than you, especially if your unwilling to learn from your mistakes
