Computer hits 100 Degrees!

My Msi gaming laptop hits 100 degrees simply after opening overwatch’s title screen.

Dillema and notes:

  • The drivers for the CPU and GPU are both updated.
  • The temperature hits 100 degrees while in overwatch.
  • The temperature hits 70 degrees a few minutes after closing over watch.
  • The temperature does not heat up like this with any other game.
  • The temperature still rises when the game is on the lowest graphics locked to 25 fps.
  • The Fan speed is set to 100% upon reaching set temperatures and works well. My cpu cools off extremely quick once overwatch is closed and my room becomes a sauna subject to overwatch running.

Video Card: GeForce GTX 1060
CPU: Intel ® Core™ i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 Ghz 4 cores.

I have a picture I wanted to include but it says I can’t post links.

Playing Overwatch with unlimited framerate puts the same stress on your GPU as one of these burn-in tests like Furmark. I suggest you limit your framerate to display-based.

Laptops like yours also tend to overheat a lot.

I suggest a significant undervervolting on both your CPU using Throttlestop and your GPU using MSI Afterburner.

This guide will get your started (its the same on non-Asus laptops).
