Highest rank I got cos I couldn’t be bothered to play comp after placements was gold. I was here calculating in my head “if I get X rank in season Y I will be able to get this new hero’s golden weapon and still have enough for Mauga golden weapon playing only placements etc”…
BUT THE ONLY REWARD I GOT WAS 250 BECAUSE GOLD WAS MY HIGHEST RANK?!?!?!
In Overwatch 1 we got rewards correlating to EVERY rank we got for EACH role INCLUDING Open Queue. So each season I would rack up around 900 competitive points. Now we just get ONE?!?! I made a smart choice to save the 3000 from Overwatch 1 and not use it. I’ll keep it stored for Mauga.

Yea, you see even fully f2p progress need to be nerfed, we cant have players believe they will get something from playing games you see.

I am pretty sure you still get rewards for each role, no?
The only thing that you only get points for one role is the seasonal challenge
The points are the ONLY thing I cared about for competitive and the exact reason I only play placements. To get my platinum rank and get gold guns for my mains then go back to chilling in arcade and quick play. Now I know I’m DEFINITELY not spending a single point until Mauga arrives or I reach 6000 points.
…I thought I read/watched somewhere that it was changed in OW2…? 
…I wonder if I would’ve checked out of curiosity rather than just doing the minimum and expecting it to be the same if it concerned me…?
The only sense of progression you will have in this game is the battle pass.

Why is Blizzard like this now? We used to get comp points for every role. This game is going to do die down pretty soon.

In the competitive challenges, it says “Only one rank challenge awarded.” It’s extremely disappointing. It’s even worse that it’s put in the fine print and not properly explained further.
A lot of players got rewards based on where they finished the season, as opposed to their highest rank. After experiencing awful matchmaking, I decided to stop climbing once I reached Diamond. I didn’t want to risk anything after that.

That’s exactly what I’m going to do now. Reach Diamond 5 on Baptiste Support Queue since I get the most comp wins with him, get 750CP every season and then wait for PvE to save the day or just play quickplay and arcade to try for achievements.

Hehe I made a post about this yesterday for the exact opposite reason
I can only get one reward therefore I only have to do placements for one role (or OQ) and therefore I don’t have to play comp which is a terrible experience
This is a WIN in my book

I make 6k Comp point just by playing the game in season 1
I guess its to make it so people dont get golden guns too fast

You don’t even need placement games anymore. It just keeps you exactly where you finished last season.

I wish that were the case. I finished my support at Gold 3 and I’m starting at Silver 4.
“competitive points are rewarded separately for each role’s skill tier.” thats what it says in the menu
Blizzard also implemented a rougher rank decay system, so even if you get to Diamond 5 and keep it there without consistent play, you’re gonna derank at the end of the season to Plat 1 or even lower and not get Diamond cp rewards. Excellent news to hear, right? Blizzard knows just what to do to make this game better for its die-hard players from Overwatch 1!
