Why does the progress of 2-3 wins get reverted with just one loss, it’s quite irritating and makes me not have the incentive to keep going, if all it takes is 1 loss to revert the progress of 2-3 wins, it doesn’t make sense in my opinion.

If you’re rank is higher than your MMR, then it’s possible.

Devs say to focus on winning and your rank will take care of itself. But then you get things like this happening. If you are winning games then you are playing the right way and deserve to be rewarded for it. It should not be possible to drop in rank with a positive win rate.

Because your MMR is lower than the rank shown. So the MM pushes you back to it.

The mm should not try to force your rank towards your mmr. It should force your mmr towards your rank.
Otherwise if the system thinks you are boosted there is no way to prove it wrong by winning games because it will just make your wins meaningless.
And if the system thinks you are a smurf it makes it harder for you to climb than an average player with the same rank.
Fair matchmaking is not optimal for microsoft shareholders.
The devs have no idea what they’re doing. Here’s another one: why does the game put you on win streaks that last until your first loss, then after that you go on a reverse trend and lose all those matches? There are so many broken things in their algorithm it’s outrageous.
I’m thirsty for the day when marvels and deadlock come out and this game loses its playerbase, makes no money, and is forced to stop supporting it, going down as the worst rated game in the history of mankind on steam. People will talk about this game for decades as having the worst matchmaking ever.

those games are not even out yet so who knows if it will be better or worse than ow
As long as the matchmaker doesn’t have broken win streaks and loss streaks it’s easily better IMO.
I am plat, playing with my bf who is gold, so the rank range is gold 4 to plat 4, problem is we won the same amount of games and losses when we did our placement as we played together, so why is he in gold? Also not to mention we get put with people who seem to not know how counters work ect, the season is still new so I’ll have to see. But 1 loss should not revert the percent of 2-3 wins, it should only revert the percentage of 1 win if I loose, it’s ridiculous how it sets you so far back after one loss it’s not even worth it, but qp is so toxic and tiring, makes me not want to play the game lol.
He’s not wrong. If the matchmaker thinks you are where you belong you will not gain much progress for a win or lose much for a loss. if it thinks you belong at a different rank the gains and loss will be much larger.

I have verified it with the use of two accounts. On the main account I can’t go above 1 gold no matter how hard I try, after winning 7-8 games it makes me play with people who seem to have never played or who stand still without trying anything. On the other account I am easily platinum 2 and I don’t want to continue playing because I don’t have my skins and other things that cost me so much on the main account.
The game somehow destroys you so that you don’t progress and look frustrated.
So wanted’s top 500 for 8yrs mmr is lower then his current d1-m3 rank that hes perpetually stuck in?

The entire competitive system is awful, it makes no sense, is completely broken. The answer? Play marvel rivals when it comes out and leave this game to rot.

Check out WantedOW on youtube. Hes been the go to go guy for cree since the start of ow1. T500 for many years, pretty sure rank 1 cree at some point.
He did placements for season 12, got diamond 1, and has been stuck between there and mid masters ever since. Hes putting up videos almost everyday trying to atleast get back to GM and just cant.
As a side note a few others are stuck in Diamond aswell. Arrge went 3w 7L on placements and got D5. Hes one of the best Hanzo players there is lol.
They both mention how bad the matchmaker and wacked the rank system is. But they dont get negative and instead seem to be playing for fun now

Someone got spicy while getting it totally wrong.
It matches on MMR.
Your visible rank isn’t used.
The % gain/loss after the after match is adjusted based on a few factors. Difference in your rank and MMR being 1. Others include stack and lobby factors.
But it is all adjusted after, thus zero impact to match making.
