So I’m just grinding competitive, 700 points away from my second galactic gun, when I finish a match and look at the play 30 games for 100 points bar. Instead of the bar being there, it says exactly this, “Congratulations! Maximum Competitive Point Seasonal Bonus Reached. 3000.” Simply put, it means I cannot earn the 100 points anymore this season.
First off, it shouldn’t say “Congratulations,” because why would I be trying to get to the max amount of points I could earn on purpose. Second, why would ANYONE want this to be a feature. Now that it says that, I feel like I don’t even want to grind any more. Blizzard wants people to play their game, so why is that a feature.
Every time I find a useless feature on Overwatch, the next one blows my mind.

I’ve seen this before and screenshotted it. It’s 100% a bug. Play another match and you should see the points again. I’m sure it has something to do with a failsafe or something in case some weird rounding happens in the coding (so that you aren’t accidentally awarded a billion points).
I just play another match to test this and it didn’t go away.
it’s not a bug. blizzard already officially addressed this.
you can earn exactly one skin’s worth of bonus points per season, then you’re locked into earning comp points from wins/draws alone.
i wish ignorant people would stop spreading their ignorance
the idea is to keep people out of comp who are only there for the skin.

Weird. It worked for me when it happened. You may have to close the game entirely, or take a break for a day. Then again, I’m not a dev. Just a casual gamer with some small coding understanding so take my word with multiple grains of salt.
I did the math and saw that if you went straight nonstop losses, it would take you 450 matches to earn enough points to get the latest weapon skin. If you did nothing but win, it would take you 100 matches.
I don’t know why the game would limit your maximum points earned if it takes 100-450 matches to earn a single weapons skin, let alone multiple ones for your favorite heroes.
If it persists in a couple days, make an official ticket with it and follow up here with any discoveries because it may just be a bug or it may be something else, in which case I’d be interested in knowing.

Is this a recent thing? I haven’t heard anything about it and I’ve definitely bought two weapons skins in one season with them. I wouldn’t have been able to complete the necessary number of games for both without them.

Actually I had this same problem a few days ago to where I wasn’t earning any comp points, period. It lasted about two days. I posted a screenshot of the congrats message and asked what the point was of continuing to grind comp if there’s nothing to earn, not to mention why slow a person down from earning skins? It makes them be more active if that opportunity is there.
Anyways, after the update I started earning points again. The 100 point bonus is gone, but at least i’m still accruing points per match which is important, because prior to that I was getting nothing.
