The reason Competitive is failing is all due to poor matchmaking and little rewards. I dont count signatures or even the titles as a reward as they are a limited thing for a reward until the next season. Any reward that isnt account permanent in my book is a waste of time. I thought I’d share my thoughts after this latest addition to the game that is merely just more useless content. If i wanted useless stuff id buy the porsche skins.

And the reason the comp match maker is failing is because of all the smurfs, high ranked comp trash that like to keep low ranking Smurf accounts so they can just go have “Fun” going 40/0 in a bronze game.
Worst part is, blizzard is not even holding them accountable to the ToS…
Cheating
You are responsible for how you and your account are represented in the game world. Cheating in any fashion will result in immediate action. Using third-party programs to automate any facet of the game, exploiting bugs, or engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating.
Exploiting other players is an equally serious offense. Scamming, account sharing, win-trading, and anything else that may degrade the gaming experience for other players will receive harsh penalties.

Even if Smurfing isn’t cheating, why would you wanna play against low ranked players when there’s really no challenge in it?
Rolling alts to legit climb is one thing
Playing heroes that you don’t play at high rank is one thing
But playing your main heroes and de-ranking to stay in low ranks is another.
Kind of a gross, you-must-need-your-ego-boosted kind of move.

I don’t think Smurfing is cheating. Instead its an insidious behavior of a person who prolly had a miserable past. They want to feel powerful so they prey on the weak. Like Starscream.
We should feel sorry for them and move on.
Why aren’t you mentioning the ranking system? That’s really the main reason why I don’t play comp anymore. The fact that it counts w/l as the end all be all is what killed it for me. It makes it so that rank is almost entirely dependent on whether or not your teammates perform.
If they just had some game developers over at Blizz to figure out a way of factoring in personal performance into your rank, then matchmaker or reward related issues could be mitigated with steadier climbs up the ladder.

If a T500 player hops into a gold lobby and goes 50-1 on Widowmaker, how is that educational, fun, constructive or helpful in any way?

Matchmaker is so cooked. But mistakes made a snowball effect.
-Mega giga buffed tanks made differences like hell. There is only one tank player in each team. One is doesn’t know well what to do but the other does, you just can’t compesate enough as a bad ones teammate.
-Hitbox size changes were bullsh*t. They favored bad players with that. Good players were already hitting their shots. This is a net punishment for good players.
-They changed matchmaker a bit with an update and its worse than ever
-Solo queue players matching with large groups and its a disadvantage for solo players.
-Cheating is a huge problem in this game.
-Soft rank resets were bad. They were not a hard MMR reset. Just squished players to near gold level several times. That was worse for matchmaker.
In my opinion, this game is cooked so hard and devs are not qualified enough for making a competitive game fair. They don’t even know what they are doing. All they know making collab skins. Lets make another collab wohooo

Because they got their rear ends handed to them on their main accounts one time too many and take it out on low ranked players on their smurf accounts, or by taking money for boosting services.
Many of those accounts are also used to derank just so they can stay in those low elos and harass low ranked players.
This is literally what it says on their terms of service page.
