Competitive Extended Time Is Questionable

Once again, Kyle here, talking about something I have noticed recently. In competitive, depending on certain kinds of matches (payload, objective capture, capture and safeguard) both teams may end up successfully capturing both areas within the time limit, sending the teams into the third, and possibly forth round. Say team one (T1) ends up completing the first round attacking with spare time left, say…1 minute and 2 seconds. Then, team 2(T2) successfully captured both points on their turn of attack in overtime. If this happens, on the third round, if T2 starts first, their time increases all the way up to 1 minute. Now look at what has happened. T1 worked their bumms off getting through the whole thing showing more skill and cooperation with 62 seconds to spare, meanwhile T2 managed to just barely get by in overtime, with no time left. How is it fair that T2 gains an entire minute to play on their turn either third or fourth round? T1-62 seconds T2-60. I understand that a team needs time to actually push themselves to the point and try to capture. But is it neccessary that they gain an entire minute? Is it fair that in their lesser experience they gain just as much time as the team who skillfully played JUST TO GAIN TWO WHOLE SECONDS? Think about that. Its a simple answer of “no”. Yes a team needs time. But thirty secknds is more than plenty, and seems justified for a team to reach the point. If they gain an entire minute, then maybe T1 deserves to gain an entire minute too to satisfy.

Another example is when a team captures a point on the second term of attacking (third or forth round) in overtime. Say that T1 has yet to take their turn, T2 plays first and ends up successfully capturing the first objective area in overtime. If so, the team gains 40 seconds of time in order to reach the next objective. Meanwhile, T1 plays and manages to capture the first objective with the same 2 seconds to spare. This team only gains 30 seconds of time. Once again, does that seem right to you? The team who captures quicker gains less time and posses less time then the team who captured slower with less skill or cooperation or whatever(I’m just using those two descriptions as examples) so here we are. T1-32 seconds T2-40. Another example of how weird this seems. Does this seem right? Hecc no. Does it seem necessary? According to blizzard, yes. Players of the game have their own opinions. But to me, this seems wrong.

I propose that each team at the end of rounds one and two should gain an extra minute each if unsatisfactory to the game in time, and for the third and second round, the team with spare time gains 40, the team who is in overtime should gain 30 seconds.

if anyone agrees, please share this to as many people as possible and spread the word. Maybe its time things change.

FYI: This doesn’t bother me as much as you may think. Yes I don’t agree with it, but i do deal with it. Im partly angry for losing matches because of unfair advantages of a team of lesser experience/skill.

Any time added is given equally to both teams already.
