Is it just me or is there an increase in smurfs and boosters during competitive drives event?
The majority of the matches have been of higher skill and a lot more steam rolling. It has been happening a lot more frequently.
Just curious if anyone has experienced anything similar during this weekend’s competitive drive event.
It’s not just you, people are getting boosts so they can get the shiny name and the comp points, and people are throwing the week before to drop way down in rank so they can go on a huge streak during the drive and max it out quick. It’s an awful design, honestly. It encourages smurfing and boosting.
Yep, been on a winning streak and then I randomly get into a match a against a 5 stack of smurfs and none of us killed their tank once. They also taunted us the entire time with one of their healers saying they’re learning Illari. Like seriously if they dont do something about this account boosting stuff, everyone is going to be doing it. That’s money being spent to actively break the game.
It’s been awful. The whole system makes it so frustrating. Like I’m having such bad losing streaks I haven’t even gotten to the first tier.
Rage/cry quitting now.
I’ve experienced this problem in OW1 too. I’m in low diamond and sometimes I got high masters/low GM players in the enemy team. Unranked to GM is also a big problem in my opinion. A lot of streamers ruin a lot of games in lower ranks.
Ever since the start of competitive play in OW years ago, end of season people played on different account, messed about and jumped in just to complete challenges.
I finished the drive last night. out of all of my games I had only 1 game with a leaver and i was upset about it until I was able to leave at the 2 minute mark with no penalty (but a loss of course) but then I checked my drive and my points didn’t go down at all (I was like 30 points away from the next check point at the time so I should have lost points) so I think either A: I didn’t wait long enough for my drive to update or B: there actually is leaver/abandoned game penalty prevention if you weren’t the one to initiate it.
and lastly my only other bad experience during the drive event was on what would have been my final game to complete the drive, when the game had 30 seconds left on the clock, my team was winning and all we had to do was hold the escort cart we had already killed the entire enemy team and the only living person was a lucio… then all of a sudden the lobby started lagging so badly we all started teleporting all over the map and no one could use abilities and some how miraculously that ONE living lucio on the enemy team team killed my whole team and they won. Enemy team then started talking trash like “ez clap” ect… VERY sus.
aside from that though I think I had 45 total games during the drive, won I think 26 of them and overall it was fine. Oh and one game I had a sus widow possible waller but I just reported and ignored.
They do, a lot of the “cheating” bans you see where the players are confused because they “don’t use cheats”. Many are because of boosting/boosted.
Also, people get banned for throwing games. That is where you stop smurfing. If they are just smashing you in a match, you can’t really ban people for that. That would be a dangerous precedent to set. Any time a game is one sided, even when matching is perfectly fine, stupid people would expect people to be banned.
That’s the thing. Blizzard doesn’t care about competitive integrity, matchmaking, whatever. The focus is sales in the store, that’s where the money is. Anticheat? It’s a vault door with no bunker around the game. Matchmaking? Only slightly better than random. Competitive integrity…can’t have that when MMR is hidden and you can have four accounts all across the entire SR range. Smurfs, bots, boosters, cheaters, dealing with any of them is hard and costs more money than Blizzard makes from skins.
Based purely on what they are saying. That seems not to be the case.
If they didn’t care, they wouldn’t be constantly testing things to hopefully improve it.
It is 1:1 with your rank, so it isn’t hidden, technically speaking.
This is clearly nonsense. They are trying to deal with things that are, in the case of cheating, impossible to stop, all you can do is make it slightly harder for a bit… then they just change the cheats.
Smurfs and boosters, a big problem them will have is a very large amount of the accusations/reports are complete waffle, and it is mostly just players getting reported for playing better. Once people stop doing that, and start reporting the actual smurf accounts then things might be easier.
At this rate it just becomes an arms race of who will spend the most money for boosts. What should happen is there should be one account per person and no more buying/selling accounts. That would at least keep the people who have been caught cheating to be banned to never return. Now, anyone getting banned just gets a new account and buys a carry to whatever rank they want.
Something I realized is to do placements next season for my least played roll and not play until the next drive event. Apparently calibration gives you more drive points.
That’s true. I started losing all the time now because matchmaking started throwing me against smurf stacks. I literally just recently played matches where the same smurf stack threw against me twice in a row.
90% of my current games are games against smurfs, one or a stack.
I dream of making the person who came up with this matchmaking system and the person who decided that there is no need to make anti-smurfs system.
/ Sit and play your bh.
I hardly ever play RQ any more, only really playing it for these drives. Last time I got on a lucky win streak and cleared it pretty quickly, earning between 30-35% per win.
This time around, not so much - most of my “calibration” matches were losses - so it can have a negative impact as well.
