Why is it that it is almost impossible to rank up in Comp Deathmatch? I am currently Diamond 3 and have a 100% win rate with 40 games played yet i can not rank up. out of 5 games I get 4 first places and a second place yet stay in the same division? just seems wrong to me that you can not lose a game yet still stay in same rank or even get deranked.
Has anyone else had similar issues with this game mode?
Edit: I have come to a theory for this common problem due to a glitch that shows the lobby rank avg while loading in sometimes. it seems the avg rank of the games most people are being put into is far lower than the rank they are at. Because of this is you get anything but first the came sees it as a huge loss while if you win it barley gives you anything due to the massive rank disparity.

i got same problem. yesterday i play a lot and wounder wot i not rank up after 5-0 “wins”.
after this i start record my places and got next:
#3 #3 #2 #5 #1 #2 - still Plat 1
#4 #3 #3 #1 #1 - deranked to Plat 2
guys, are u serious? ow1 comp ffa rating system was clear - first 4 places got +sr, next 4 -sr. +50 for #1st, +20-25 for #2d, +10-15 for #3d and +0-5 for #4th; same with -sr for #5-8th.
and now to rank up you need to do 5-0 with only 1st places?
very similar to you, got placed plat 1,
5-0 (3 firsts, 2 second) = Plat 1
5-1 (4 first, 1 third) =plat 2
5-0 ( 4 first, 1 2nd) =Plat 1
I feel like I’m playing people who have no FFA time. I had the Executioner Title in November. It’s my favorite game mode, GM role que dps. Yet I’m stuck in plat with mostly 1st place wins. It’s almost funny. almost

just completed another set with nothing but wins and went down two ranks. LMAO this team can’t do anything right.
51-7(ties)-0 according to the stats and have only ranked down.

I think that the rankings are totally screwed up. I played 15 games highest finish was 6th in one match the rest were mostly 8th with a few 7th in there and I got raked as Silver 2. I feel like I should have been Bronze 5 after all that work but apparently Blizzard disagreed with me.

This is definitely broken, I’m literally winning all games finishing first and only climb by 30% of the division tier (diamond 4)
having a similar issue. 4 rounds of wins, went from plat to diamond then stuck at plat 2 for multiple rounds of wins. gotta be broken. seeing similar posts on the sub reddit
Having a similar issue, going 10-0 and still staying the same tier. disappointing considering that rank up would put me on the t500 board. I think that this honestly has to do with the mode just being a small population. So, as you say, you get lobbies with huge disparities so you get very little sr for beating people way lower than you but lose a ton if you finish lower. At least that’s all I can figure and it seems like those lobbies are due to the small population for the mode.
Same problem here (I’m not GM on dps though lol). It just really doesn’t want me to get to diamond 5 unless I go 20-0 perfectly apparently. Just dropping one match is a derank. Pretty sure it’s due to the low population for the mode causing wide matchmaking, so you don’t gain much for beating people who are ranked lower, but lose a lot when you don’t.
it has to be bugged went 5-0 placing first only and still deranked. kept track of my top500 number at the start and after each game.

Same here. I have been grinding it a lot cos I wanted to get masters so its closer to my normal comp rank but it is impossible. After I got d5 I went 70-0, usual set is 3x 1st place 2x 2nd or 4x 1st place and a 2nd or 3rd and after those 70 wins I am still d5 lol. Definitely had a few 3rd games throughout the 70 but definitely no more than 8-10 all up.
As you say, have also been demoted despite 5-0, 3x or more 1st place. Also noticed that for the first 4 wins of a set I will go up ranks in t500, then the 5th win I will always go from rank 150 or so to 220. It happens every time, even if I finish on a 1st place win.
Same here. Really wierd rank system. Even Grandmaster tier isnt exist;;;
