I have a friend that plays from a college campus with us on comp. He plays through Ethernet and the connection sometimes just disconnects, causing him to leave within the first minute of a game. At first when his happened, we brushed it off as unfortunate and waited for like 15 minutes. Next, it happened the game right after so he just got off for the night after getting the hour ban. The next day, he thought he had fixed it and then it cut out again, resulting in an 8-hour ban. Luckily all of the games had him cut out within an early window so the matches got cancelled. He seems to have gotten it fixed now, but heâs nervous that now if his wifi accidentally cuts out again at some point during the season, he might be perma banned. If this happens, would it be possible to appeal?
idk what to tell you. get a better internet provider or donât play online video games. overwatch can be pretty frustrating even without leavers
the most basic answer: no.
blizz does not care about your end issues (even though their servers are sometimes bad)
best option would be to play QP or ensure your connection is stable
Playing comp on sketchy internet is the pinnacle of selfishness. Youâre forcing losses on 4 other people and wasting the time of 9 other people.
Hopefully you get banned a long time.
Playing comp on a public wifi/ethernet, is probably never going to end well.
⊠and as some have stated best to stick to unranked quick play. It will be more fun than potentially sabotaging (even if accidently) ranked play. This person will get reported as well with whatever other punishment Blizzard decides to implement.
Unfortunately you will not find a lot of sympathy, because if the match is too far in, the team left short handed will, more than likely, also be punished as well, with a âlossâ
Nope, âyour friendâ who definitely isnât you is just going to have to suffer the consequences.
The temporary bans are the warning shots before the fatal one. Stop doing what youâre doing before you get stopped by force.
Like I said before, this was a friend of mine at college. Secondly all of the matches that got ended were him disconnecting early on so it didnât count as a win/loss to anyone. Thirdly, why are you so hostile? Who hurt you
If he plays through an ethernet cable then heâs not on Wi-fi.
That said, Wi-fi is the worst thing you can possibly use for online gaming, especially if itâs a public wi-fi with restricted bandwidth.
How long into the match? Because thereâs a grace period for about 1 minute. After that, the team takes an L.
Donât go outside. Youâll melt
He should only be playing QP.
He played through Ethernet but he had problems of it disconnecting probably just due to a bad port. Heâs been playing on WiFi as of yesterday and it seems to actually be running perfectly fine. I think a lot of the people who responded are ignoring the fact that I said heâs gotten it fixed and I was just asking about the potential for ban appeals. I understand now that that isnât something that appeals are accepted for, but thank you for the polite response. Also yeah, all of the games he disconnected within the first minute. One game he even disconnected and joined back before the 10 seconds were up but it still ended the game
So, why does the topic title say
?
canât even DC too many times in that mode now either, with the new leaver penalties⊠lol
Such an ugly, terminally online thing to say to someone.
Youâre still wasting peoples time. Support queues are 5+ minutes just to get cancelled because âyour friendâ is playing comp on sketchy internet.
The fact youâre defending them means youâre the same selfish type.
-
wifi is known to be unstable
-
competitive games are even worse on wifi
-
its just a bad idea.
-
get better internet/ a ethernet cable

edit: I did read about the whole ban appeal, the forums isnât a place to post about ban appeals. tell him to make a support ticket wait a awhile and hope it gets addressed. the forums have no way of helping with that and itâs actually against TOS to even talk about ban appeals if I remember correctly?
