Comparing Sombra hack with Ana nade

Imagine they put hack up to 3s. People would have a hissy fit. Being denied your abilities for 3s! No way! Delete Sombra!!

And then we have Ana sitting on an ability which takes away not only a tanks ability to heal itself (Hog/Mauga) for 3s, but also the ability for any other support to heal them, or for them to take health packs. And everyone is ok with it because it’s on the heroes they don’t like.

What about the people that play those heroes? They basically get 3s sombra hacked every time she throws the low-skill projectile anywhere near them - doesn’t even have a hack time like sombra that they can interrupt. Just lands on the ground somewhere in their vicinity and their main survival ability is disabled for 3s.

Funny how it’s not ok to lose YOUR abilities for 3s if it’s the hero you play, but ok if it’s another hero you don’t like.

Now imagine ana had nade on right click.

Ana antinade for all it’s problems is 21 times better designed than hack.

Why 21 it’s the amount of times brig got nerfed in ow1

Didn’t know nade disabled a tank’s mitigation abilities like barriers and dm. And support abilities like suzu, lamp, life grip all at the same time. And it cannot be interrupted by barriers and dm? When did they make these changes?

Classic Forum Ana post. Maybe the best ever

Health packs should cleanse. They already partially cleanse to begin with and anti should not be an exception. They could remove the cleanse from hacked health packs if they wanted. I mean, who cares about Sombra anyways?

Sombra takes ALL the abilities
Ana takes only healing abilities + she is not perma invisible
Hack is not comparable with anything.

Not all tanks have barrier and dm. Not all supports with cleanse are being played against the ana. Might as well argue “didn’t know hack couldn’t be interrupted by damage” which is not that relevant most times it is used as it succeeds. Just like nade may be blockable, but most times it is used it isn’t blocked because the Ana waits for the shield to be down or DM to be down or gets from another angle.

Being able to block/DM is not the same as actually being able to do it in a lot of cases. And generalising when not all tanks have these things is disingenuous.

So Ana made a good play by tracking cooldowns and had good positioning on an off angle? That’s overwatch. Hack disables said cooldowns in case you haven’t noticed. Every single tank has a way to mitigate or block nade and sleep except the 2 literal worst designed ones and doom, who by the way is countered by hack, not nade. Wonder why

You missing a very small detail though.

Hack stops all ability ussage, anti only stops healing.

So that means overhealth or damage midigations abilites can still be used on a anti target as anti doesnt stop those.

Ya on some heroes like zen, anti will shut down all their healing, but anti can not shut down every thing.

Also hack is a 6 second CD while anti is a 12 seconds.

People don’t like Ana’s anti-heal effect either, but you’re absolutely right about this.

The problem is that we only have one tank now, and they rely heavily on both healing and their abilities. In the past, you could rely on the second tank, but now a single tank has to carry the entire burden alone. That makes these effects extremely effective against tanks, and because of the tank’s importance, these abilities are primarily used against them.

Sombra’s hack, as it is right now, is a joke and needs to go back to what it was originally meant to do.

Two mistakes:
1. Hack only stops a fraction of abilities, plus a few more if you manage to place the hack during the activation of an ability – but that’s more luck than skill.
2. Hack may have a 6-second cooldown, but it can only be applied to targets that aren’t already hacked, and the full hack duration lasts 8 seconds. This means the effective cooldown for the target you’re focusing on is actually 8 seconds. By the way, this also applies to EMP followed by a hack, but not to hack followed by an EMP.

The issue with hack vs ana’s sleep is you can still use your abilities with ana sleep. Granted you are asleep until you are damaged, but its not like you are completely vulnerable once you get out of it. I shouldnt have to worry about sombra clearing out my entire back line as a tank. A good sombra player is leagues harder to deal with than a good ana. Ana cant singlehandedly wipe your team, and i say this as a sombra legitimately wiped my entire team. A sombra hack can render heroes practically useless, especially dive tanks. Its basically a hard punish for free with no skill shot like a sleep dart which is on a high cool down. You can at least avoid alot of ults, sombra’s ult renders the entire team useless. Mei’s ult takes time to work, sombra’s is immediate. You cant tell me this charcater is balanced even without perment invis.

This isn’t about Sleep Dart but rather her grenade. Besides, Sleep Dart is basically an instant death for anything that isn’t a tank.

The idea that Sombra can wipe out your entire team on her own isn’t realistic, and other heroes can do the same or even better. If that happens, it means your team made a mistake.

The argument about her ultimate is only partially true. If EMP is used in combination with another ultimate, that’s valid, but it requires coordination. The same applies to other ultimate combinations, making this argument invalid.

because anti-nade still allows you to play the damn game and use your abilities (besides heal) - hack doesnt. hack is a cheap a** ability that requires no aim & stops you dead in your tracks like sleepdart denying ults, physics, momentum and whatever animation your (hacked) character was in + increased damage. its dumb af and no amount of pointing fingers will ever change how cancerous sombra is, nice try.

Hack universally sucks to get hit by on ANY character with a 3+ sec duration. Its simply unfun to play against. In terms of power, its a single use ability versus a multihit ability. However, its not going to necessarily guarantee someone dies. Healing exists. Healing can intervene and help keep someone alive. Very frequently does keep someone alive during a hack duration.

Bionade cuts off healing which means the universal panacea to keep players assisted and against dying is gone. The only thing left is if a character has a self survival tool or mobility to note die. With very limited tank abilities. SOmething like Defense matrix, bubble, or shield which are all relatively short range abilities compared to healing which can be up to 20m+ away on nearly all supports.

Bionade is still more powerful than a 3sec hack since it can hit multiple people directly brings down a character’s hp. Hack is situationally powerful to kill a character that would normally rely upon an ability to stay alive. Namely a ball, a doomfist, a hog, etc. that goes in very deep.

There is a reason why very consistently high level players will call bionade a team fight win. This isn’t just forum Ana, this is simply the reality of bionades power. Despite the no mobility weaknesses Ana has, it is very much a tool keeping her very powerful.

The universal panacea to not dying is good positioning, not healing, especially as a dps or support.

Which block damage, the thing that causes the tank to die. Fortify, shout, adaptive shields also provide sustain to survive the nade. Every tank other than hog, mauga and doom has these or a shield/dm.

I never said nade is as effective as hack. Let me know when nade disables shields/dm/overhealth. The same high rank players like Ana’s design but we like to ignore that on forums

People are going to take trash damage all the time. You physically cannot avoid all the damage in the game. Especially a tank.

There is an entirely reason why supports are the primary characters to kill first in any fight. No supports = no more infinite sustain. When supports die, the entire team crumples very fast afterwards due to the lack of sustain.

Positioning means diddly squat when hitboxes are enlarged since S9, easy to use abilities exist, and hitscan is there to make aiming easy. If supports are alive, you can retreat and regroup.

Dead supports = a team rout. Bionade is a way to pick out a moment in the middle of a team fight to secure a kill without killing supports first.

Which is why tanks have things to mitigate damage. Shields, matrix and sustain via oveehealth. You don’t need to avoid all damage but you’re certainly expected to be mindful of your hp and cooldowns. If a Winston decides to jump backline with half hp no cooldowns and gets rolled by nade, it’s not a design problem

Most of those abilities are required to stay alive from general damage output. Bionade is opportunistic. Very easy to apply. Save to apply from range. Completely impossible to stop unlike the range, cast time, and ability to cancel a hack.

I can aim for the tank, shatter on a shield missing tank, but then have purpled another person close by. You can shatter it against a wall behind a shield or on the floor behind the shield.

By Gold players already know when a shield is going to break or to apply when DM goes down because of the delay for it to come back up. The arguments that shields and DM counter it are not great because it’s so easy to play around them as Ana. And once Rein runs out of shield or DVa out of matrix, they’re only blocking damage for a part of the 3s they are naded and unable to do anything in that time except hope they survive.

The combination of sleep+nade-to-wake is one of the most consistent combos in the game, and often works well on tanks too as they can take so much damage during the wake animation before they can even use their abilities. And for Hog and Mauga, they take loads of damage during wake and then are lucky if they survive at all while they are naded.

No support should hold that kind of power over any tank, let alone 2+ of them.

Those abilities are also supposed to be used to block all things that can kill you or your team. If you’re low on said resources and you’re still down mid for whatever reason, you misplayed. Tough luck.

Nade does not go through shield and defense matrix. It’s not completely impossible to stop and good players often do. Why don’t you try counting how many times hack gets stopped by a dva vs nade.

Why is this other person front lining with their tank?
