The complaint all these years, is that people have been hording comp points, due to not having anything other than gold guns to purchase.
So what group of devs, sat around the table with their tin foil hats on and came to the conclusion, that instead of just… ADDING the jade skin to the little section where the gold skin is at, and making it purchasable right off the bat with the comp points people have been hording for years, but we’ll instead have to RE-GRIND the comp points, so the comp points we’ve had horded all this time are now completely useless and will just turn into legacy points.
And people who are newer to the game, will only be able to purchase the gold gun skin in 2025 when their comp points, turn into legacy comp points. You have to wait, an entire calendar year, to be able to purchase any golden guns you either missed or simply weren’t playing the game to get…
And people blamed bobby, no! Bobby was a terrible human being, but I think it’s time we just realize… the dev team is dumb. Like actually dumb. Idk how such a simple uncomplicated thing, managed to be turned into this? Literally just add the jade skin into the game… AND THAT’S IT. Why are you making a secondary comp point currency and locking old comp skins behind a YEAR long wait??? There isn’t even any money, to be earned in doing this. It’s not like you can purchase comp points. This is just a flat out dumb change that benefits no one.
Tbf…It would be very boring to just buy the new skins…so I think it’s okay.
However…I don’t understand that at all…no idea what that’s all about. They should have simply said “spend your points on Golden Weapons, because with the start of Season 9 they will be reset. From then on, you can farm the points new and buy the gold weapons or the jade weapons”
Who cares about boring… the entire time, for years that has been the main complaint. We have comp points, but nothing to spend it on. So what logic goes behind, making all the comp points people have been complaining about not being able to use… completely useless.
Honestly I’m a little sad because I’m only missing six gold guns. I almost have enough for another. Then I’ll be missing five. Mostly on tanks. At least I have every hero I play though (and some I don’t!)
Yeah, this part I agree with. You shouldn’t be able to use old points to buy new skins.
I’m with you on this. I’m not sure why you can’t choose to spend new points on golden guns. Or maybe you can? It seems like they said you can’t though.

Or you could just read the blizz post, like most people.
This is the single stupidest part of it all. I can understand changing it so people who have hoarded points don’t buy everything right away and go straight back to complaining about having nothing to buy, but making us more casual players who still don’t have all the golds we want WAIT AN ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR JUST TO BUY MORE GOLDS?! WHAT THE ACTUAL F
Yeah, it seems they just don’t want people to buy the new jade skins right away without playing comp in the first place.
And to OP I guess next year they could end up releasing new rewards, so again they don’t want people to buy it right away without playing, but I wonder if Jade skins will be made available for purchase with legacy credits then.
Except that wouldn’t be the case. They’d be able to buy what… 3? And then you’d still have the entire year to grind all the other jade skins, until 2025 when the new skin drops and then you do the same for that.
The ENTIRE point was people complaining that they have nothing to buy with the comp points they have now… taking those comp points and making them STILL unable to buy anything with it, literally defeats the entire purpose of what they wanted.
I just wished we would’ve gotten the more neutral colors first before throwing in stuff like green. That jade thing simply doesn’t match most skins (it also looks like a piece of tin, it’s a very ugly shade of green). We could’ve had silver, we could’ve had diamond, platinum, obsidian. Much better options compared to jade.
I wholeheartedly agree. I have no idea what they were thinking. This new system brings nothing of value to anyone. There’s no benefit to limiting people from buying their gold weapons. There’s no reason to introduce a new comp currency. There’s no need to forbid people to buy jade weapons with their hoarded points, considering there’s a limit on how many cp one can have at a time and at worst, at worst!, someone would buy a grand total of four of the new skins. DISASTER, I TELL YOU!
It’s almost as if someone really wanted to climb the corporate ladder and came out with one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard of, then presented a bunch of mumbo jumbo to the higher ups who, being incompetent themselves, approved it. And now we have this.
Allegedly these will only take about 50 games with a 50/50 win to loss to unlock. I am pretty sure I could unlock my first Jade weapon within a week if that is true.
I am not endorsing this behavior; however, you could hypothetically throw your placement matches and climb back up with a much higher winrate if you were adamant about getting your first Jade gun as fast as humanly possible. No idea why anyone would be that excited to earn these uggo guns, but yeah… You could unironically crank these out once a week if you played around 7 games of competitive a day.
The streamers who play this game will probably have all of the Jade weapons including for Venture and Space Ranger before the end of the year. It’s wild. I guess right about that time we should be getting another set anyways. I would assume they did the math here to time it that way.
