ah yes, les split the comp pool. who needs queue times?
I dont think you realise how much 1000 hours is
why?
this one is fair
explain to me then, who the new accounts would play with? the game is 10 years old, they are running out of new players to make accounts. what you are asking for would literally kill the game
one 1 of the criteria would lead to better matches. it would just lead to you being with more people like yourself of who think the reason they are losing is because of other players.
Every player under 1000 hours could play together. I’m sure that’s a wide enough pool. Also, it’s optional. Not everyone would do it.
Sometimes I lose because of other players. Sometimes the loss is my fault. Sometimes it’s bad teamwork. Sometimes the enemy is individually or collectively better. It’s not always me, but it’s not always someone else.
New accounts are too ambiguous. They are either alts or smurf or a brand new account. I don’t want to play with or against any of them.
it would be the bigger pool but I am at a rank where 1000 hours is a feasible amount so it would do nothing but either make my games wider or just massively increase queue times. either everyone would use in which case the game is separated by seniority and loses what little competitive integrity it has left or no one uses it and its pointless.
what rank are you in?
but it is someone else often enough for you to dislike low level accounts? seems like youre looking for something to blame.
or they are an alt like 90% of second accounts are. I can almost guarantee that half the new accounts you see are actually players that belong in your rank but because they are fresh and doing half decent you assume the worst.
you need to look for a real solution. make the game worth playing at the high end and smurfing drops. ban the throwers that are trying to derank to smurf. splitting the ranked queue does nothing good.
Just for myself, though. Make every one of my suggestions optional.
I’m willing to wait because I want high quality matches when I play.
Diamond
Not really. It’s more of a game integrity QA.
Player with 1000 hours in a diamond lobby. No problem. Player with 17 hours in a diamond lobby, huge problem.
Nah. The MM isn’t that good.
I have no sympathy for high level players unfortunately. If the system threw a bronze player into masters and higher lobbies every fourth match or so, I feel like that would be justice for smurfs and alts.
As long as these high rank players keep creating new accounts and ruining matches for those of us below, I am tapped on any empathy for them.
No, I get it. I just find it irritating that high rank players ruin matches for everyone else with no recourse.
The game still has millions of players. I wouldn’t be waiting forever.
Stop telling me what I think? Years ago the posts might be about my rank. It’s not anymore. I know how skill I am (and more importantly how skilled I’m not).
My aim needs work, my positioning needs work, my consistent decision making needs work.
Alts ruin the integrity of the game for countless reasons. The major ones—they condone griefing, throwing, raging, and smurfing because having more than one account negates any legitimate consequences of those actions. Reports are meaningless because a player can wait out any slap on the wrist by logging on to another account.
Direct and indirect throwing is a larger problem because a player on an alt is less likely to counter swap (or more likely to one trick), can rage at the slightest communication from teammates because the account in gold or plat doesn’t matter when their main sits in diamond or masters.
Every match a player spends out of their rank is unbalanced. That’s a huge problem.
The MM uses a players skill to place them in matches. It has everything to do with the MM.
I support these options because it lets the players decide if these issues are important or not.
If only a handful of players are selecting these options, queue times will only be affected for that small minority who are willing to wait.
If these options turn out to be extremely popular, then that should be a sign to Blizzard that many players find these issues concerning.
In the latter case, perhaps it is time to look for other ways to improve match quality such as starting new accounts lower, introducing a strictly solo queue mode, increasing the minimum level required for comp, capping the number of alts allowed, narrowing match ranges, etc.
I see a lot of people being dismissive about this issue, while also citing increased queue times as a potential problem. Queue times would only affect the average player if the average player agrees that these issues are important; thus highlighting the need for change.
yeah it sucks but making an alt isn’t against tos. there is no feasible way outside of hardware locks (which dont work for legit reasons) to prevent this from being an issue in a ftp game though.
and those millions of players are split into ranks. we don’t have exact numbers but I would be willing to money on there being less than 100k in any rank above diamond in a given region.
not what I meant. I meant the game has not had any competitive integrity for years. they have tried to remedy that with hero bans and map votes which is a step in the right direction but peoples biggest issue is that matchmaking, or more accurately the ranking system, is just inaccurate. in lower ranks you notice the inaccuracies when its an alt but it goes both ways too, there are so many boosted players in gm that people end up making alts just to smurf for a bit. this is after they found a burner phone number and grinded the requirements in qp. it is already inconvenient but the game at the high end is hardly worth playing so yeah, people hop on alts.
the rules not having consequences does not condone anything. you are once again using your experience with toxic alts (probably people that got banned) and assuming that everyone is the same.
and that will always be an issue. there’s no way around it. a paywall is the best course of action but they got rid of that with ow2. again though, the people you are seeing are probably coming from account action so when the system does work, lower ranks are still the people that suffer.
yeah nah, bringing one tricks into the conversation was not the way to go. they exist in every rank. I don’t like them but they are not a big issue. you lose one game and never see them again.
its not a huge problem. its one game for you.
all games are unbalanced. as mentioned earlier, the ranking system is not accurate in the slightest. and poeple are inconsistent. someone could have a good day and climb to gm and then have a bad day and look like they are hard boosted.
within a set range. the mm might know that someone is gm but it cant just put the gold player into a gm lobby can it?
so what do they do instead? they increase the amount they gain when they win and decrease the amount they lose when they don’t. the result of this is the alt climbing at a significantly faster pace to minimise the amount of games that are affected by their misplacement.
a simple fix to this would be to increase placements back up to 10 and place said accounts more accurately. the highest I have ever placed and account was low diamond. 80% winrate in the qp games leading up to ranked and then winning all placements matches. granted this was back in ow1 but still, low diamond as a t500 player at the time.
